A cosplayer has created an incredible depiction of Samus Aran from Metroid Dread. The most recent entry to the classic Metroid franchise sees Samus exploring the deadly world of planet ZDR with a newly-redesigned power suit that gets upgraded throughout the game.

Metroid Dread Cosplayer Uses Sound To Evoke An E.M.M.I Attack

As ClapperSnapperMaster’s choice of title suggests, this scene appears to replicate a game mechanic in Metroid Dread. When Samus is cornered by one of the E.M.M.I., the player has a brief opportunity to avoid capture. If the player succeeds at a quick-time event triggered when an E.M.M.I. captures Samus, the bounty hunter can momentarily paralyze the robot and make her escape by knocking the E.M.M.I. back with a powerful blow and sliding between its legs. Although an E.M.M.I. does not appear in the clip posted to Reddit, it is still quite easy to imagine that one stands just off-screen. The overall scene looks like ClapperSnapperMaster’s Metroid cosplay came straight out of the game itself.

The E.M.M.I. are powerful and almost indestructible enemies in Metroid Dread, to the point that their accompanying music is enough to make many players nervous. Ironically, within the game’s lore, they were not intended to be anything so menacing, as they were created by the Galactic Federation as resilient and nigh-indestructible survey drones. After the villainous Raven Beak captured and reprogrammed them, this same engineering gives the robots a deadly advantage in combat. Even Samus herself is forced to run away in most circumstances, listening for sound cues like the ones in ClapperSnapperMaster's video to avoid capture. This near-invulnerability has helped the E.M.M.I become some of Metroid’s most terrifying enemies.

This cosplay video really brings Samus to life. The excellent visual details of the Power Suit and posing, combined with the familiar sound of an E.M.M.I. on the hunt, make it seem as if Samus has just narrowly escaped one of the iconic enemies, even without an actual E.M.M.I. to be seen. ClapperSnapperMaster is clearly a very talented cosplayer to have put this together, and Metroid Dread fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing more of the results from this video shoot. Samus in any version of her Power Armour is an instantly recognizable sight, and this is no different; ClapperSnapperMaster has shown off a perfect Metroid cosplay, with plenty for fans to praise.
