Nearly a decade after he first debuted in the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man which is set in an alternate timeline adjacent to the MCU, Spider-Man finally crossed paths with Daredevil. As such, the showdown that followed is everything I've ever wanted from their first MCU encounter.
In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's alternate MCU timeline, Norman Osborn becomes Peter Parker's mentor instead of Tony Stark (among other key deviations). As such, the Webslinger's journey to becoming a full-fledged hero has been looking different compared to the main timeline, including the MCU heroes he's encountered along the way. Thanks to Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 6, this includes a showdown with Daredevil (voiced by Charlie Cox).
I've Been Waiting For Spider-Man vs Daredevil For Almost 9 Years
The Perfect Marvel Superhero Crossover
Ever since Tom Holland's Peter Parker debuted in the MCU with 2016's Captain America: Civil War, I've wanted to see the Webslinger cross paths with Charlie Cox's Daredevil. Not only are they both street-level heroes in New York, but the duo has a rich history of working together in the comics and even share a handful of the same villains, most notably Wilson Fisk's Kingpin. While Matt Murdock did serve as Peter Parker's lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home, neither got in costume (though it was a great tease for potential encounters/team-ups down the line).

As it stands, Spider-Man and Daredevil have yet to face each other or team up in the main MCU. That said, Wilson Fisk becoming mayor of New York in the Daredevil: Born Again series does have me and many other MCU fans hopeful that a team-up is on the horizon. Keeping that in mind, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 6 serves to be an incredibly exciting proof-of-concept for a true Daredevil and Spider-Man encounter in the main MCU's future.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Daredevil Encounter Is Everything Fans Want
Using Their Unique Powers and Heightened Senses
In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 6, Spider-Man believes Daredevil is a criminal, finding The Man Without Fear after he broke into Norman Osborn's office to investigate his darker secrets. As a result, this first encounter sees Spider-Man and Daredevil opposed to each other, as is the case for many initial superhero encounters in the comics before an inevitable team-up and ongoing partnerships. To that end, there's not much I would have changed from Spider-Man's first showdown with Daredevil in this alt-MCU reality.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Cast & Character Guide - Every Actor In The Animated Series
Marvel Animation's Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is in development, and its main cast are steadily being confirmed in the meantime.
Using their respective abilities and enhanced senses, it's pretty awesome to see the duo fighting on helicopter blades with Daredevil dodging Spider-Man's webs while the Wallcrawler relies on his spider senses and agility to make up for his lack of training. Likewise, it's cool to see Daredevil recognizing that Spider-Man is inexperienced yet trying to do the right thing, hence his decision to simply knock the young hero out with his billy club (when he probably could have done worse). The only thing I would have preferred was if the two heroes were wearing more traditional costumes, but the showdown itself is pretty spectacular, all things considered.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Is A Great Sign
With any luck, this new encounter between Spider-Man and Daredevil is a sign that Marvel Studios intends to bring the duo together sooner rather than later in the main MCU timeline. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 6 definitely proves that the potential is there. A live-action team-up should be inevitable, especially when and if Mayor Fisk decides to outlaw vigilantes in New York as he does in the original comics.
At any rate, I'm hopeful that Daredevil returns either in the last two episodes, or in the next two seasons of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which have already been confirmed by Marvel Studios. Future appearances and team-ups with Spider-Man in this new animated series will help make the waiting much easier ahead of the magical day when the Webslinger and Devil of Hell's Kitchen finally suit up together in the live-action MCU.
The final two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man begin streaming February 19th on Disney+.
