Peter Parker's return to the Spider-Man 4, after Tom Holland has been absent from the franchise since 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, following many years of development, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are closer than ever to turning Holland's sequel from concept to reality.

Sony Pictures announced today in a formal update to their release slate that the untitled Spider-Man 4 movie will be swinging into theaters on July 24, 2026, officially making it part of the MCU Phase 6. Production is set to start in Summer 2025, with Holland currently attached to the Spider-Man 4 cast. The movie will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Zendaya is also reportedly involved in the film.

What Spider-Man 4's Release Date Means

As Spider-Man 4 has landed its slot in the MCU Phase 6 release schedule, it sets up a few intriguing aspects for Holland's new movie. To begin with, Spider-Man 4 will be coming out only two months after the release of Avengers: Doomsday, which features the return of Robert Downey Jr., but this time as Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom. The Hollywood Reporter mentioned recently that Holland is filming both Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday in 2025, which means having his solo movie come out right after the team-up film could have a significant impact on the sequel's story.

For the time being, Spider-Man 4 will be the final MCU film to come out before Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, with the 2026 film possibly setting him up for an even bigger return in The Multiverse Saga finale. Depending on what happens in Spider-Man 4, the Phase 6 movie may also justify Peter Parker having a crucial role in Avengers: Secret Wars. Time will tell if other MCU movies get scheduled between Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Our Take On Spider-Man 4's Release Date

Tom Holland's Spider-Man stands in front of an American flag in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Considering the packed MCU release slate over the next few years, July 24, 2026, makes perfect sense for Spider-Man by also making it a major summer event film. With Spider-Man 4 filming confirmed by Holland, casting details are bound to start emerging over the next couple of months. Hopefully, as things start coming together for Spider-Man 4, it won't be much longer until the first batch of story details start to arrive.
