The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly growing and expanding with each new release and is always introducing new characters. Although the majority of the movies and shows are set on Earth and only a few are set in space, the cosmic side of the universe is full of interesting otherworldly creatures.
MCU: 5 Reasons Why Phase 3 Was The Best Era (& 5 Why It Was Not)
Thanks to these projects, fans have gotten to see just how big, and extremely deadly, the MCU really is. While some of the creatures are harmless, there is a decent amount of them that are incredibly dangerous, even if they don't look it.
Flerken
Flerkens are aliens that resemble regular house cats, but possess tentacles that come from their mouths which can lead to pocket dimensions. The only Flerken that fans have seen so far in the MCU has been the one named "Goose" that belonged to Doctor Wendy Lawson, was looked after by Carol during her time on Earth in Captain Marvel, and was later adopted by Nick Fury.
Goose was able to swallow two Kree soldiers that were attacking Fury as well as the tesseract, which she later threw up, allowing SHIELD to run tests on it. She also scratched out Fury's eye when he was playing with her, which resulted in the injury that led him to start wearing his famous eyepatch.
Abilisk
The Abilisk was a multidimensional being that the Guardians battled at the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to prevent it from consuming their planet's power sources.
It has many tentacles on its body and can emit waves of trans-dimensional matter from its mouth and was able to withstand blasts from the majority of the team's weapons, including Quill's blasters and Drax's knives from both the outside and inside. It was only defeated when Starlord noticed a cut on its neck and Gamora drove her sword into and sliced it open, causing it to lose blood and die.
Vrellnexians
Vrellnexians, commonly referred to as "roaches", live on the surface of the destroyed Earth in the timeline that the Agents travel to in the 5th season of Agents of SHIELD. They are four-legged creatures that look similar to the Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise, have sharp fangs and claws, and can crawl along walls and ceilings.
While most of them roam the dead planet in the year 2091, a decent amount also inhabit areas of the lighthouse. The ones that did were ultimately all destroyed by Yo-Yo, Mack, and Flint when Elena led them to one floor and used the splinter bombs that Fitz had left for them to disintegrate them.
Chitauri Gorillas
Chitauri gorillas look similar to Earth gorillas but have cybernetic implants, particularly on their faces. They were used by the Chitauri army in Avengers: Endgame during the Battle at the Avengers compound.
MCU Henchmen: The 10 Best Costume Designs
They walk on all fours and wear armor on their bodies for extra protection. Much like the Outriders, they serve the Chitauri and don't have their own purpose besides being used for combat, which makes them extremely dangerous.
Dragons
Dragons are mystical fire-breathing creatures that have had roles in both the movies and the shows of the MCU. On the TV side, while they haven't been directly shown, they have been mentioned numerous times on under New York City to use in their Steel Serpent drug.
The first real appearance of a living dragon came in the opening of after killing Surtur and preparing to bring his head to Asgard after going to Muspelheim, only to narrowly escape using the power of the Bifrost.
Frost Beasts
Frost beasts are creatures with four-legs, sharp teeth, and spiked backs and tails that have made appearances a couple of times.
The first time was in Thor: The Dark World when Thor and Malekith were hopping between dimensions and one escaped Jotunheim and ended up in London, which was the last place it was seen.
Leviathans
Leviathans were flying beasts that were used by the Chitauri during their numerous attacks under the direction of Thanos. They have appeared in every single Avengers movie, with them being used in Avengers: Endgame during the battle at the Avengers compound.
5 Ways Star Wars' Future Emulates Marvel (& 5 Ways It's Still Different)
They were also shown to be used by Thanos in a flashback in his attack on Zen-Whoberi when he first adopted Gamora, and one was shown to be recovered by HYDRA in Avengers: Age of Ultron. They are enormous, have massive teeth, and are capable of completely destroying buildings. They have armor protecting their soft-tissued skin beneath and could only be destroyed by more powerful opponents like Thor, Hulk, and Ant-Man when he was in his giant form.
Asgardian Wolves
Asgardian Wolves look similar to regular wolves aside from their size. The one Asgardian wolf shown to fans was Hela's personal pet, Fenris, who died after she was exiled but was resurrected by her in Thor: Ragnarok after her return.
She was 23 feet tall and had sharp teeth that were capable of piercing the Hulk's skin and making him bleed during a battle in which the two were pretty evenly matched. However, despite her strength, she was defeated by Hulk, who threw her off of the Asgardian waterfall.
Shrike
The Shrike were a race of beaked and winged alien parasites that are created and controlled by the being known as Izel. The bat-like creatures were used by her in the destruction of several other planets before she came to Earth in season 6 of Agents of SHIELD.
They enter through the mouths of their victims and then take over control of their nervous systems. They cause crystalized spikes to emerge from their body when attacked, and can only be defeated by using specialized daggers or extreme cold. Daisy Johnson was also able to reduce them to dust using her seismic powers, and they were all destroyed when Izel was killed by Agent Mack.
Outriders
The Outriders were six-legged creatures that serve as in Thanos' army in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and were used primarily during the invasion of Wakanda.
They have razor-sharp teeth, black and yellow skin, and are seemingly mindless, as they were willing to kill themselves in order to attempt to break through the Wakanda force field barrier before it was opened. They are strong enough to overtake Black Panther, Captain America, and Bruce Banner while he was in the Hulkbuster before they were saved by Thor.
