Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been an anticipated MCU event even before the premiere of Infinity War. With Endgame over, so much has happened to Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot since their last intergalactic outing that the next adventure for the rag-tag team of renegades has a lot to live up to.
Fans of all degrees can wish, hope, and speculate what kind of trouble the Guardians will get into after their tagalong with the God of Thunder Thor, but there are a few certain points that need to be addressed. Fans can only cross their fingers and hope the next film lives up to expectations.
An Appearance From Thor
It's a 50/50 shot, but seeing Thor make an appearance in the next Guardians film isn't really that big of a stretch. Since the team is already supposed to make an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, it would certainly be nice if Asgard's favorite son returned the favor.
It might be just a brief appearance or cameo, but one that wouldn't go unappreciated by the fans. If it worked for the likes of Dr. Strange and Tony Stark, why not Thor?
Another '70s Soundtrack
Both previous Guardians movies are renowned for their music. And if there's one thing that can be said about Peter Quill, it's that he has the best taste in music out of any of the Marvel heroes.
The previous soundtracks featured hit song after hit song from the likes of David Bowie and more, so the next one needs to continue that rockin' tradition. If Thor gets a healthy dose of Led Zeppelin, the Guardians need more glam rock.
More Howard the Duck
Howard the Duck has become the galaxy's most smile-inducing Easter egg (outside of Stan Lee of course), so why hasn't he been given a full appearance? Granted, Howard's film career hasn't really had the most uplifting reviews, but certainly, he deserve a chance at MCU glory.
If he was worthy enough to get a cameo in Endgame, it's high time he made a full-on appearance as one of the ing cast. At least give him more than a few seconds of screentime.
A Star-Lord and Gamora Arc
The events of Endgame really shook things up for Peter and Gamora, and the time-travel arc didn't exactly help their relationship either. The next movie in the series will really have to bring its A-game if it wants to bridge the relationship between the two.
It's gonna take a lot more than Star-Lord's charm and dancing to rebuild his romance with Gamora from the ground up, but perhaps Thor: Love and Thunder might lay the seeds. A fan can hope.
A Drax and Mantis Romance
It goes without saying, but Mantis and Drax play surprisingly well together. He's the muscle with the warm side underneath, she's the emotional empath. Since Guardians Vol. 2 had the beginnings of a really sweet romantic arc for the two of them, why not expand on that idea even further.
Star-Lord and Gamora have an emotional romance arc, give Drax and Mantis the comedic one. Seriously, the ridiculousness of their companionship could be absolute comedic gold if given the right circumstances.
A Rocket-Focused Arc
While Rocket did get a bit of an interesting story arc with Yondu in the last Guardians movie, he's definitely one member of the team who deserves his own adventure or even solo movie. Those familiar with the comics know what all rocket has been through, and know exactly why he deserves some extra attention.
Two words: Lyla Otter. Although it's unclear what her status is in the MCU, seeing her story mingle with Rocket's would open a very gripping and emotional side-plot with the character.
Quill Dealing With Post-Endgame Issues
One thing many fans don't consider isEndgame and the fact that Star-Lord has not set foot on planet earth for decades. He appears for Tony Stark's funeral, but it's unclear as to how long he's been there. How would an adult Peter Quill react to the modern age?
Maybe the audience see the Guardians return to Earth, mix and mingle with some fellow superheroes, or simply take on some villains who don't require Infinity Stones. It's not a bad concept.
More Rocket and Groot Antics
With the effects of the Thanos Snap reversed, the group's dynamic duo has been reunited once again. Time for more shenanigans with everyone's favorite tree and talking raccoon.
Outside of the various cartoon shorts featured on Disney+, the two really haven't had a lighthearted romp since Vol. 2. Whether that would take place on a solo mission separate from the others or just something on the side of the main plot, fans will probably be satisfied either way.
Room For Another Sequel/Spinoff
The Guardians of the Galaxy are perhaps the most beloved team in the MCU outside of the Avengers, so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for the series to just end. Simply put, there needs to be room for some kind of sequel or spinoff after the dust settles.
The team is the most humorous, the most relatable, and (not surprisingly) the most entertaining. Whether it's the team's familial nature, the sci-fi action, or the frequent forays into comedy, it's a safe bet audiences will continue to want more.
Adam Warlock
After the end of Vol. 3, it's anyone's guess as to what the MCU version of the character inside that sarcophagus will be like. Especially considering the events regarding the Infinity Stones have already ed.
While he should most definitely have appeared at some point during Infinity War or Endgame, fans would be right in expecting the long-awaited appearance of Adam Warlock. As a pivotal player in the Guardians universe, seeing Warlock on the big screen needs to pay off in a big way after such a long tease.
