The MCU TV shows to the franchise's long list of projects. Between live-action series, animated shows, Special Presentations, and shorts, Marvel's foray into Disney+ has led to an elevated number of projects in a short amount of time. Sadly, not everything worked.

The MCU's TV shows were not produced in the traditional way, with no formal showrunners to oversee them. Adding to that, many of them were criticized due to wonky VFX, poor pacing, weak stories, and more. Marvel has shown that it is listening to the criticism, and a creative overhaul of the MCU's TV side has changed things. Now, shows are developed with multi-season projects in mind by dedicated showrunners for each project. One of Marvel Studios' projects will be the first to showcase that new way of thinking, and the live-action series breaks a negative MCU trend.

With Daredevil: Born Again season 2's filming set to start in New York on Friday, February 28th, Winderbaum revealed that the MCU TV show's second season will be released in 2026. Adding to it, the MCU executive claimed the plan is for the Daredevil series to become an annual release for "season 3 and season infinity after that." Winderbaum also touched on New York's potential in the MCU. Recently, he talked to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of Netflix's other Defenders returning to the MCU, claiming Marvel is "very much exploring" that possibility, so more annual street-level shows could happen.

Marvel Studios Now Has A Better TV Development Model

Brad Winderbaum's confirmation that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 releases in 2026 means that the series will break a negative MCU trend. Until now, only one live-action Marvel Studios series has returned for a second season. The show in question was Tom Hiddleston's Loki, but there was a two-year gap between seasons of the multiverse-heavy MCU series. All other live-action MCU shows on Disney+ were created as one-season limited series. As such, Daredevil: Born Again's confirmed annual releases make it the only live-action Marvel Studios series to release new seasons every year.

One of the biggest promises of the MCU's new TV show development model is that Marvel is now looking into multi-season series. Daredevil: Born Again is making good on that promise with a creative overhaul and now a firm release schedule that makes it one of the MCU's most interesting projects. Marvel is also looking at past shows to see if that new model could fit them, as Winderbaum recently confirmed that the studio is exploring making Hawkeye season 2. If Daredevil: Born Again season 1 is a hit, then the MCU's TV corner could see more multi-season shows soon.
