Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Mayfair Witches season 2, episode 3!Mayfair Witches season 2, episode 3, Lasher (Jack Huston) is approached by Felix (Gabriel Freilich), a vampire drawn to him because of his inhuman nature. The pair have a conversation where the vampire encourages the reborn entity, since he's a new creature in this world. Felix is also an unnamed vampire, credited as "pale young vamp," seen helping Lestat (Sam Reid) in Interview with the Vampire's season 2 finale.

Speaking with TV Insider, Spalding explained how the idea of a vampire in New Orleans came about, influenced by wanting to tie Mayfair Witches more concretely into the Immortal Universe. The showrunner worked with Interview with the Vampire showrunner Rolin Jones, naming the young vampire while giving him a purpose in the show. She revealed the idea was to implement Lestat's worldview as Lasher's story continues. Check out what Spalding had to say below:

We wanted a vampire who was in New Orleans, and we wanted somebody who connected to Interview and carried some of the mythology of Interview. And it was just a conversation with Rolin [Jones] about how that would work. And then looking at the [Felix] scenes, I think they had just finished shooting them when we were working on this idea. I can’t the timing, but he was called Pale Young Vamp in their show. And so we gave him a name and so on. But the idea was that he was Lestat’s student and we could see the fun.

It’s not just a cameo, it is not just an Easter egg of a guy, but it’s actually somebody bringing Lestat’s worldview into our show and trying it out with Lasher. And that felt interesting and significant. Of course, it doesn’t stick. That’s not what kind of being [Lasher] is, but it was really fun to try out.

What Mayfair Witches' Interview With The Vampire Cameo Means For The Immortal Universe

This Isn't The First Time Both Shows Have Formed A Connection

While this is the first time Mayfair Witches has acknowledged its larger role in the Immortal Universe, it's not the first time both series have been connected. The Mayfairs were briefly mentioned during Interview with the Vampire season 1, while Talamasca agent Raglan James (Justin Kirk) appeared in season 2. Interview with the Vampire season 2 ended with Daniel Malloy (Eric Bogosian) using the organization's files to discover how Armand (Assad Zaman) took credit for saving Louis' (Jacob Anderson) life in , when Lestat was his true savior.

Later in the interview, Spalding confirmed this won't be the only major crossover, with Mayfair Witches season 2, episode 7 being written by Mark Lafferty, showrunner of the Talamasca series. While there's no confirmation if the episode will act as a lead-in for the spinoff, it will likely present ideas that will become important during the Immortal Universe's third TV show. This makes the currently-airing series an important connection point between the other two entries in its supernatural franchise, opening the door for potentially stronger ties as the season continues.

Our Take On Mayfair Witches & Interview With The Vampire's Crossover

It Could Lead To Bigger Ties Between Both Series

Interview with the Vampire has strong connections to Mayfair Witches through Anne Rice's book series, which includes a trilogy of crossover novels. Felix's cameo might be the first hint at a direct connection between both series at some point in the future, whether during each of their respective series, or in a different TV show altogether. Since the Immortal Universe is growing more connected with every new season of its shows, it's only a matter of time before that bond becomes greater than a guest appearance.
