live-action Masters of the Universe movie will feature Camilla Mendes, Leto, and Aliison Brie alongside Galitzine.

Though production has yet to kick off on Masters of the Universe, Galitzine teased to The Hollywood Reporter how the adaptation will approach the franchise's source material. While the star acknowledged that the earlier and most influential versions had a distinct and memorable campiness, the movie will have its own tone. The actor highlighted how several more recent iterations of the character had their own approach to hint at how the movie would treat the source material:

Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time. But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously since there was the Revelation version of Master of the Universe, and the comics themselves. And we’re very much treating our script as as Bible, you know.

Nevertheless, Galitzine stated that he was honored to hear how ionate people were towards the franchise, promising that the movie would be pleasing to those who grew up with the property through nods and references, while also providing newcomers with an entry point. Check out Galitzine's explanation below:

But it’s kind of amazing to hear what this show meant to a lot of people. It was really formative for a lot of people, so it’s exciting to do something that will have a nostalgia element as well as hopefully attract a bunch of new fans.

What Galitzine's Tease Means For The Masters of the Universe Movie

The Feature Is An All-new Origin Story

Before Galitzine's tease, the 2026 live-action adaptation was already shaping up to be unlike anything that had come before. Although there is no official synopsis of the movie nor confirmed plot details, rumors suggest that the feature could see Galitzine's Adam being on Earth and learning of his Eternian heritage. This story would lead him to return to his fantasy homeworld, Eternia.

As such, the movie could likely be grounded and set in a more contemporary setting, as Adam becomes the Masters of the Universe character whom audiences can learn alongside. Nevertheless, the actor's reverence and acknowledgment of other entries show the movie is doing what it can to capture what has been universally accepted across the franchise's history.

For instance, Netflix's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power offered a highly successful retelling of Adora's corner of the universe for a new generation. As such, Galitzine's hints towards a new approach to the source material should not worry those who have a specific attachment to any past iteration. However, with the actor teasing a unique approach to Masters of the Universe, many may be eager for their first looks at Adam and other beloved characters.
