A Q1 FY 2022 earnings call from Mass Effect trilogy this past May.

Barring the first entry's Pinnacle Station DLC and the third title's multiplayer suite, Mass Effect Legendary Edition packs in every piece of content released across the trilogy. As a remaster, it, of course, added a slew of technical bells and whistles, as well. The collection notably boasts two graphics modes - Favor Quality and Favor Framerate. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions target 4K/30fps in Quality, while the same mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X can reach 4K/60fps capabilities. This stellar rerelease of BioWare's beloved RPG series reignited a flame within the Mass Effect community, evidenced by the apparent sales success.

Twitter and independent industry analyst Electronic Art's first quarter conference call for fiscal year 2022. The publisher's execs relayed that sales for Mass Effect Legendary Edition trended "well above expectations" and "reignited ion" for the sci-fi franchise. Specific sales numbers weren't shared during the investor call, but EA's emphasis on the collection performing "well above" sales expectations is notable given its sometimes unrealistic forecasts.

In addition to reigniting ion amongst fans, such meteoric success has likely reinvigorated Electronic Arts' confidence in the series. While there exists no shortage of love for the original trilogy, 2017's Mass Effect: Andromeda left even the most ardent of the Mass Effect faithful uncertain about its future.

Of course, the Legendary Edition isn't the last we'll see of the space-faring RPG property. During the 2020 Game Awards, BioWare unleashed a teaser trailer for a new Mass Effect installment that seems as though it will continue the tale told in the original trilogy. Fan favorite character Liara T'Soni appears at the tail end of a the trailer, making it clear that some remnant of the story in Shepard's orbit remains incomplete. When more concrete details may surface is anyone's guess at present, yet it's safe to assume BioWare won't have more to unveil for quite some time.
