YouTuber Digital Dreams recently showcased RTX 3090 graphics card. Developed by BioWare Montréal, Mass Effect: Andromeda endured a disastrous launch in early 2017 following a lengthy yet turbulent production cycle.

The studio notably struggled to translate the RPG mechanics and design of Mass Effect to DICE's Frostbite engine. In addition, the engine's lack of baked-in tools necessary for such a project meant the Montréal developers expended an extensive amount of time and resources on modifying the technology to their specifications. Thus, corners were cut and sacrifices were made, resulting in Andromeda's myriad graphical, technical, and performance issues, many of which remain the stuff of internet memes. BioWare did manage to improve Mass Effect: Andromeda over time, bringing it up to a higher standard in of overall quality. So how well does the once beleaguered experience run on the latest in high-end PC rigs? One player recently decided to find out for themselves.

YouTube channel Digital Dreams put Mass Effect: Andromeda to the test on a GeForce RTX 3090 by running the 2017 title in 8K resolution. This "Ultra Graphics Showcase" also boosts BioWare Montréal's much-maligned role-playing game with the Beyond All Limits ray tracing preset. Needless to say, the results are astounding. Digital Dreams' nearly 10-minute video shows ME: Andromeda protagonist Ryder exploring both indoor and outdoor locations, each one boasting impressive reflections, lighting, and particle effects. As is obvious based on the above video, the RTX 3090 along with a fair few mods have worked wonders for Mass Effect: Andromeda's visuals. The Beyond All Limits ray tracing reshade seemingly did a lot of heavy lifting, too, making the experience shine in ways that were not previously possible.

Andromeda reentered the conversation surrounding the beloved franchise late last year following BioWare's release of a new Mass Effect game tease. The teaser video in question aired during The Game Awards 2020 and featured a quick look at Liara T'Soni, which suggests the story of the original trilogy will eventually receive a new lease on life. When BioWare and EA will begin sharing concrete details about the next mainline entry remains unknown.
