The Masked Singer season 13 runner-up Andy had a great time as Boogie Woogie, his lovable fuzzy disco-dancing monster alter ego. He shared, "Man, it was a whole journey. It was really, really fun. It was a very unique experience. Once in a lifetime. The amount of production and care around something this silly ... I don't know that I'm ever going to do that again, and I lived it fully. It was really fun."
Andy Revealed His Favorite Masked Singer Season 13 Performance
"To Get To Sing That Was Really Fun..."
Andy had so many spectacular performances throughout his Masked Singer season 13 run as Boogie Woogie, but he did choose one as his favorite. So to get to sing that was really fun."
Andy Didn't Know Who His Fellow Masked Singer Season 13 Contestants Were
"I Had No Idea, Which Made It Really Fun..."
Andy revealed that he didn't know who his fellow Masked Singer season 13 contestants were, even as he performed group numbers with them. He also competed in the Group B finals Battle Royale with James Van Der Beek's Griffin, during which they both sang "I Had Some Help" by Post Malone feat. Andy explained, "They don't tell you. I did not know. It's funny 'cause the only thing you can hear is them loosely singing from backstage. And then, when you go to your trailer, you can hear people in the next trailer practicing. But you really don't know. It's funny. Everywhere you go you have to wear this face mask and a Don't Talk to Me sweatshirt. So I didn't know." Andy couldn't guess his fellow contestants either. He said, "Honestly, I had no idea which made it really fun. Yeah, it was great."
Andy Thinks That His Late Mom Would've Enjoyed Watching Him As Boogie Woogie
"I Bet She Was Smiling At How Ridiculous This Was..."
Throughout The Masked Singer season 13, Andy had the chance to pay tribute to his late mom, Kathryn Willoughby Grammer, who ed away due to breast cancer in 2009. He spoke about her often during the show, and he dedicated his performance of "Something in the Water" to her.
Andy shared, "You know, I sing about her a lot throughout a lot of my old records. And she's been gone for 14 years, and it's something that I'm sure she would have really thought was fun. And I don't know how the afterlife works, but, if there is one, I bet she was smiling at how ridiculous this was."
Andy Was Touched By His Daughter's Finale Night Phone Call
"I Definitely Teared Up..."
During the Masked Singer season 13 finale, Andy's daughter was his surprise phone call, and he was very touched by it. He explained, "My oldest daughter is the voice on the phone, and she was so excited to be a part of it. And that one got me. Again, it's this weird reality of complete absurdity. And then, also working hard to make sure you sound right, and learning all your little dance moves they give you. And the intersection of those two creates like a new reality that you're in for those three weeks while you're there. And so, when I heard my daughter's voice on the phone, I definitely teared up doing something so ridiculous. It was a very wild experience."
Andy & The Producers Took Turns Choosing His Masked Singer Season 13 Songs
"You Throw Caution To The Wind When You're In A Monster Costume. You Just Go For It..."
Andy revealed that sometimes he chose his song, and sometimes the Masked Singer producers made the selection for him. He said that he'd "kind of go back and forth with the producer and the people that run the show. And some of them I'm like, 'I really think I should do this' and then other ones, I was just open to whatever they gave me, and they chose great songs for me, honestly."
However, Andy had his heart set on his first Masked Singer song, which was "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. He said, "I really, really wanted the first episode to be The Darkness, "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." You got to go full, you got to go absolutely outrageous, to come out the gate."
Andy went on to say that some songs weren't possible for him to do because they'd been done last season or the show couldn't get the rights to them. Although he didn't know the producers' suggestion of Carrie Underwood's "Something in the Water," he was happy with how it turned out. He said, "I didn't know that Carrie Underwood one. But a lot of people really liked that version that we did. And so it was fun. You throw caution to the wind when you're in a monster costume. You just go for it."
Andy also shared that it's possible that he might add some of his Masked Singer songs to his concert set lists in the future. He said, "It's possible. Who knows? Usually when we play on tour, there's like one or two covers that we throw in. So maybe, yeah. Would love it!"

And that is something that I don't get to do enough in my life. And I really appreciated it. [It was] very freeing. You're supposed to just be as ridiculous as you can be, and no one knows who you are. And it was just, like, so fun."
