In upgrade their heroes in various ways, but it's tough to do when not knowing which stats, ratings, and attributes do what. Most of the time, it will be a quick change of an equipment piece that will give the fastest changes to the ratings. Another way to boost stats is to upgrade the gear as well. Different stats will be more useful than others depending on the upgraded hero. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero will be vital when it comes to their stats and what each of their focuses is.
An example of how upgrading can help a hero in Marvel's Avengers would be the stats that Iron Man would deem to be necessary since he's a long-range character. Since Iron Man is a ranged hero, he's not the most powerful character when it comes to using his fists. Iron Man does some close-quarters combat, but it's not as strong as his missiles or his laser attacks. Putting as many points into the Ranged Rating makes the most sense because that means his Ranged attacks will be more powerful and do more damage. It's not advisable to go into the Melee Rating as much, but each player has their style, and they might make Iron Man into a powerhouse. These are things to keep in mind when looking at upgrading a character.
What Are The Four Ratings In Marvel's Avengers
There are four different ratings for each hero. There's the Melee, Defense, Ranged, and Heroic Rating. Each of them deals with distinct aspects of combat for each hero. The Ranged Rating deals with the ability for the ranged attacks of characters to deal damage from a distance. It also affects how much damage gets done for ranged strikes, as illustrated previously with Iron Man. The Melee Rating will determine how much damage physical attacks will do. For characters like the Hulk, this is very useful to know because they primarily cause damage with their fists. The Defense Rating is going to be helpful for all characters as it will reduce the amount of damage each hero will take when they take damage. The Heroic Rating also affects all players. It revolves around how much damage each heroes' Heroic ability will damage enemies.
How Do Attributes Affect Ratings In Marvel's Avengers
With how vital the ratings are to the characters in Marvel's Avengers, it's paramount to know what Attributes comprises each of them so that players can focus on them in a more in-depth manner. Each Rating contains either two or three attributes of which get explained below:
- Melee Rating Attributes: Might, Proficiency, and Valor
- Ranged Rating Attributes: Precision, Proficiency, and Valor
- Defense Rating Attributes: Resolve, and Resilience
- Heroic Rating Attributes: Resilience, Intensity, and Valor
After seeing what comprises each Rating, here are the Attributes in more detail to help make more sense on the importance of each one:
- Might: Affects the amount of damage each melee attack does.
- Precision: The higher the number, the more damage ranged attacks do.
- Proficiency: Increases the perks that can be found on gear to activate along with giving increased critical hit chance on all attacks.
- Valor: The damage done on critical attacks and how effective heroic abilities are depends on this attribute
- Resolve: The Health/Willpower regeneration, and the maximum Health/Willpower gets formed with this attribute
- Resilience: Resilience is effectively the armor attribute with the higher the amount, the less damage a hero will take.
- Intensity: Status effects are a part of Marvel's Avengers, and this attribute is what determines any resistances or how the attacks of the heroes can deal status effects as well.
While each Rating is critical unto themselves, there are a few ways to approach character building in the game. Some players can make Iron Man into a glass cannon with everything put into Valor, Proficiency, and Precision through the Ranged Rating. Another possibility is to make Captain America a defensive juggernaut by putting everything into the Defense Rating with a focus on Might, Resolve, and Resilience. The possibilities are endless, and experimentation is going to be entertaining if not welcomed.
Marvel's Avengers is available on September 4th, 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
