10 Unanswered Questions From X-Men: The Animated Series That X-Men '97 Can Answer
X-Men '97 has a lot of explaining to do when it comes to the many unanswered questions and cliffhangers of X-Men: The Animated Series.
What Beau DeMayo's Firing Means For X-Men '97
While it remains to be seen if DeMayo will return to social media to address his firing, this creative shake-up is not going to affect X-Men '97 season 1. Prior to the show even premiering, Marvel Studios and Disney+ confirmed that X-Men '97 season 2 had already been greenlit and was in the works. Therefore, DeMayo will only have credit on X-Men '97 as a writer for the first two seasons while likely maintaining his "Created by" credit in future seasons.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DeMayo had been tossing around some story ideas with some of his team about X-Men '97 season 3. While that doesn't confirm that X-Men '97 season 3 has been picked up yet, Disney+ and Marvel Studios are clearly keeping the door open to bring the show back. However, with DeMayo's firing, a new X-Men '97 showrunner will have to be hired, as they would also likely have to pitch the executives their ideas for a potential season 3.
Time will tell if Marvel Studios will ever shed more light on DeMayo's firing, although it is unlikely they will personally unveil more details on what went on behind the scenes. Given how this happened only a week before the series premiere, something drastic must have happened, to say the least. But for now, the Marvel audience can catch the first two episodes of X-Men '97 season 1 starting on Wednesday, March 20, only on Disney+.

X-Men '97 is the direct continuation of the popular 1990s animated series X-Men: The Animated Series. Taking up where the third season left off, Marvel's revival brings back famous mutants such as Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, and Nightcrawler, who fight villains like Mr. Sinister, the Sentinels, and the Hellfire Club.
