Since 2013, Marvel has been no stranger to television with the production of 13 shows in the span. Obviously, they're now ready to make a fairly major shift in their TV programs through the Disney+ series with more legitimate ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the plan, as of now, to essentially scrap the old era of Marvel TV, the fate of a lot of characters still hangs in the balance. It also initiates the conversation of recasting these characters, and whether or not the actors and actresses who portrayed them before will have any place in the future of Marvel Studios. So before we begrudgingly say goodbye to all of these incredible series, let's first consider which of these actors we hope makes an MCU comeback.
Rosario Dawson
There, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be much hope for Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple. With the cancellation of all the Marvel-Netflix series, Dawson's character sort of fell by the wayside behind the heroes portrayed on the shows.
Claire Temple played a pretty significant role across all the Marvel-Netflix shows as the driving force that brought the Defenders together. With her focus right now likely on other projects such as The Mandalorian and other Star Wars productions, Dawson seems a lost cause for the future of Marvel TV.
Jessica Henwick
Jessica Henwick's time in the Marvel Universe ultimately got bogged down by the disappointment that was Iron Fist. However, she was still fantastic in the role of Colleen Wing and one of the few bright spots of the entire series.
It's difficult to say exactly how Marvel would go about bringing back her character, but there certainly has to be a spot for her in some project in the future. Even if they decide to do away with the character of Colleen Wing, Henwick has shown she deserves a spot with Marvel no matter the role.
Clark Gregg
You may be wondering why the legendary Clark Gregg isn't further up on this list. Regardless of the fact that he never technically left the MCU, the future of Phil Coulson is pretty unclear.
After the conclusion of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there's really no saying whether or not we'll ever see Coulson in the future of either Marvel's TV shows or films. If they ever do decide to bring the beloved Phil Coulson back into the fold, you can bet on none other than Gregg manning the role.
Adrianne Palicki
Since the announcement of Marvel projects on Disney+, fans have begged for the development of a Mockingbird series. There's been no traction on the creation of the series, but that doesn't rule it out entirely. In the event that the character earns her own show, or even makes an appearance on the series of another character, who better to portray her than Adrianne Palicki?
She did incredible work with the character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and we can only hope that her time as Bobbi Morse isn't quite done yet.
Simone Missick
There aren't exactly a plethora of characters from Luke Cage that would be worth bringing back. Outside of the show's main character, Misty Knight is the next great character to bring back.
Simone Missick's portrayal of Knight was unparalleled across the Marvel-Netflix series and the character is all too important to the grounded side of the Marvel Universe to completely abandon. There is no doubt that Misty Knight deserves a spot in the future of Marvel and there's really no reason to not let Missick re-assume the role.
Iain De Caestecker & Elizabeth Henstridge
Any fan of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will tell you that one of the best aspects of the entire series is the relationship between Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons. Their story is arguably one of the best romantic tales in all of Marvel's work, and it would be a shame to see it go down with the end of the series.
The two, portrayed by Iain De Caestecker (Fitz) and Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmons), are a guaranteed package deal if they're ever to make an MCU appearance. The fan-favorite characters could play a major role in the scientific side of these new Marvel stories, and both were too brilliantly played to not utilize again.
Ming-Na Wen
The future of basically every Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character hangs in the balance, including Ming-Na Wen's Melinda May. Much like Rosario Dawson, Ming-Na Wen is a highly sought-after talent who's more-recently made the switch to the Star Wars Universe.
However, much like her AOS co-stars, it'd be a shame to see her go down with the ship. There's plenty of opportunity and places to bring back a character like May. So hopefully, Ming-Na Wen makes a return as well.
Mike Colter
When it comes to the actual heroes of the Marvel TV era, it's hard to imagine that the characters won't be used at some point in the future.
Starting with two seasons of the series, as well as in The Defenders, and it's difficult to imagine anyone else taking his place.
Deborah Ann Woll
In the world of ing characters, there are arguably none worth bringing back more than Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page. Over her time in the shadow of Matt Murdock.
The brilliance of Karen Page can only be attributed, however, to that of Woll. She brought the character out of an extremely horrifying origin story and into the spotlight. Although the character would likely remain in a ing role, it would still probably make a lot of fans very happy to see Deborah Ann Woll playing Karen Page once again.
Vincent D'Onofrio
From the days of Marvel TV, there are very few villains worth utilizing again. If there is going to be one enemy from any series to the MCU, it's going to be Kingpin. Much like most of the other characters here, it's hard to see anyone else assuming the role of Wilson Fisk other than the incredible Vincent D'Onofrio.
His portrayal of the villainous crime boss was unparalleled to any other we've seen before, and he's one of the few actors that's publically expressed interest in taking up his role, once again, in the future.
