Brace Yourselves, Marvel Rivals Is Getting Swimsuit Skins This Summer

Just in time for Summer, Marvel Rivals will be getting swimsuit skins, based on the Marvel Swimsuit Special, an artist showcase from the 90s. The Swimsuit Special is a one-shot that shows several Marvel characters in beachwear and summer attire. The comic will be called MARVEL SWIMSUIT SPECIAL: FRIENDS, FOES & RIVALS #1, and it will be released sometime in July.

According to Marvel's announcement of the comic's return, the comic issue will reveal the swimsuit designs coming to Marvel Rivals later this year. There is no specific date for the skins or the cost as of right now. The art revealed for the comic features several Marvel characters having fun in the sun and playing swimming pool games. Notably, male characters including Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Panther can be seen wearing speedos, and female characters like Scarlet Witch are wearing bikinis, so those could be the skins coming to the game.

It seems that the Marvel Rivals skins will not come to the game until after the comic is released, so it may be a mid-to-late summer release for the skins.

The Marvel Swimsuit Special will see superheroes doing a swimwear photoshoot around the world and will star the Wasp, according to Marvel, with the comic description reading: "...Wasp is on the case and seizes the opportunity for Marvel’s heroes to do their OWN swimwear fashion shoot all over the world!"

Players are sure to enjoy classic comic skins coming to this popular free-to-play hero-shooter. However, fans may also be annoyed at the high price of the cosmetics, and especially color changes costing a new currency, so many may feel like NetEase Games might be preying on nostalgia and established fandoms of characters to get fans to drop more money on the game.

No matter your stance on the fan service aspect of Marvel Rivals, the monetization practices have been mostly well-received, with all gameplay elements like new characters, game modes, and maps being free for all players.
