One of Marvel's most iconic heroes, Spider-Man, is among the 33 characters whose abilities you can harness in Marvel Rivals. This amazing wall-crawler is arguably the fastest character in the game, using web swings to dive in and out of fights with opponents. Using his high mobility, Spider-Man can stun foes by webbing them up before finishing them off with quick strikes, making him a great ally for your team.
Spider-Man is a Duelist character, which classifies him as a character that can deal tons of damage in a DPS role. Similar to other Duelists like Wolverine in Marvel Rivals, Spider-Man has very low health, causing him to get eliminated easily if you aren't careful. Rated as a five-star difficulty character, Spider-Man can be hard to play, as his abilities are harder to find consistent success with during matches.

Shoot Webs And Swing Around
Many of Spider-Man's abilities have multiple charges, stacking up to a certain number of times before recovering after a cooldown. This gives Spider-Man ways to use specific skills more than once before they run out, giving you more options than some characters in Marvel Rivals. However, using multiple charges to perform consecutive abilities will quickly lead to situations where Spider-Man has no options left.

Is it annoying that Spider-Man is so hard to play as in Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals is now available to play worldwide. I have had a fun time so far with the game, and some of my favorite characters include Star-Lord, Black Widow, the Punisher, and Moon Knight. As one does, I tried to play as Spider-Man early on, but the hero has such a diverse set of skills, with a unique traversal system, that I could not be effective with him. Marvel Rivals did say that Spider-Man was hard to play as, and I guess it makes sense, as it kind of forces some players to pick other characters.
Spider-Man also has abilities that leave webs on enemies called Spider-Tracers. Enemies with Spider-Tracers are indicated by a web symbol above their head, causing them to take more damage from some attacks and change the properties of other Spider-Man skills. Below is a table of all the abilities Spider-Man has, and how Spider-Tracers can be applied or modify them:

The lack of cooldowns on many of Spider-Man's abilities can lead to combos using multiple skills in quick succession. For example, chaining Get Over Here! with the Amazing Combo ability is a great way to deal a lot of damage to an enemy quickly. Some characters, such as Star-Lord in Marvel Rivals, will have most of their health removed from a simple Spider-Man combo, especially if you tag them with a Spider-Tracer first.
How To Use Spider-Man's Ultimate
Pin Enemies Down For Your Team
The Spectacular Spin Ultimate for Spider-Man shoots webs in a large AoE around himself, damaging any opponent exposed near him. While this Ultimate can be used just to take out enemies with low health, it can be used in a wide number of ways. When an enemy hit by Spider-Man's Ultimate has a Spider-Tracer on them, they get stunned in place as webs wrap them up for a short time.
Landing a Web-Cluster attack to leave a Spider-Tracer on an enemy can be easy if you use Spider-Man's Web-Swing to reposition yourself behind enemy lines to quickly tag an enemy.
Stunning a group of enemies will allow the rest of your team to clean up an opposing force without risk. Managing to web up a Strategist will allow Spider-Man to also quickly use other abilities to take them out, leaving an opposing group without their healer(s). This can be the push your team needs to win a war of attrition, so make sure to activate Spider-Man's Ultimate to help achieve that goal.

Marvel Rivals Gets Its First Major Update That Fixes Some Of The Well-Known Bugs
Shortly after launch, Marvel Rivals received its first major patch, which promises to fix some of the game's well-known issues and bugs.
Landing Spider-Man's Ultimate effectively can be difficult though, as enemies will quickly spot you if you are reckless. Due to Spider-Man's health, you can easily be eliminated while performing the Ultimate if you don't catch enemies by surprise. Patience and timing are the two factors you have to consider when you want Spectacular Spin to damage and stun as many opponents as possible.
Best Team Composition For Spider-Man
Team Up With Other Wall Crawlers
The Team-Up abilities in Marvel Rivals give special skills to characters when they are in the same group. Some synergies are better than others, but Spider-Man is one of the rare characters who has multiple Team-Up combinations. This makes it a lot easier to determine which characters will pair well with the wall-crawler, sometimes even improving his arsenal of abilities.
The best characters to have on a team with Spider-Man are:
- Peni Parker
- Venom
- Squirrel Girl
Each of these characters has a Team-Up with Spider-Man, with Peni Parker sharing the same one when Venom is around. With Venom, both Spider-Man and Peni Parker gain the Suit Expulsion Team-Up, a new ability where Venom shares part of the symbiote with both characters. By activating this new ability, Spider-Man can unleash explosive spikes that damage enemies near him and knock them back.
Spider-Man's Team-Up with Venom is seen visually through the symbiote crawling on his suit's back. Having this Team-Up ability active also gives Venom an extra 150 health, allowing the Vanguard to stay alive in fights longer.
This Symbiote ability is a great way to finish off foes who are at low health, giving Peni Parker and Spider-Man more consistent ways of securing eliminations. When Squirrel Girl is on a team with Spider-Man, he receives the Extra Web-Fluid Team-Up, which gives Squirrel Girl a Web-Bomb skill. When using this, Squirrel Girl can unleash an explosion upon with the environment or an enemy, damaging and immobilizing them for a short time.
Best Tips, Tricks & Strategies For Winning
Be Fast, Be Amazing
Spider-Man's difficulty comes from his low health and multiple charges on abilities, which make it hard to determine when and where he should attack. As Spider-Man, your goal should be to take out low-health characters on the enemy team quickly, then retreat to your allies. This hit-and-run playstyle can be boiled down to a few steps:
- Find Out Which Enemy Character Is Away From Their Team
- Tag That Character With A Spider-Tracer
- Zip In And Use A Combo To Quickly Eliminate That Character
- Use Web-Swing To Flee Before Too Many Enemies Overwhelm You
Abilities like Get Over Here! allow you to reposition foes, disrupting their actions and causing them to panic. This environment is where Spider-Man thrives, as the character's mobility makes them extremely hard to pin down. Other teams with even the best characters in Marvel Rivals will have a hard time pinpointing your position for long enough to target you and stop your assault.
Targeting Strategists is a fantastic way of disabling a rival team's , so try to use your ability combos to take down these enemies first.
Constant movement and unrelenting offense only work if it is also paired with the patience to flee when you get overwhelmed. Your mobility makes it hard for your own team to heal you too, so be careful about engaging enemies far away from your allies. While the abilities of Spider-Man may be strong in Marvel Rivals, they are not enough to take out an entire enemy team on his own without some help.
