Marvel Rivals Season 2 Details
This story has been edited with additional details based on an official press release from Marvel Rivals studio NetEase. The revised story is below.
Season 2 of Marvel Rivals will be launching this month, adding Emma Frost and Ultron to the playable roster. The second season looks to be ramping up festivities on the mutant island of Krakoa in 2099 with the annual Hellfire Gala.
The official trailer from developer NetEase shows off Emma Frost leading the festivities at the Hellfire Gala and heavily features Krakoa, one of two map additions to the game this season. The trailer also depicts Ultron, who was previously leaked to be in Marvel Rivals, crashing the party. Emma Frost s Marvel Rivals as a Vanguard, using "telepathic and diamond abilities as the situation demands," according to a press release from Netease. Ultron, speculated to be the first flying Strategist, will in the second half of the season. Marvel Rivals Season 2 begins on April 11.
Everything We Know About Marvel Rivals Season 2
The Hellfire Gala Is a Glamorous Annual Event
Along with Krakoa, Emma Frost, and the eventual addition of Ultron and a second new map, Season 2 is adding new Team-Up Abilities while tweaking and even removing others. Marvel Rivals will also incorporate weekly missions alongside daily challenges.

Marvel Rivals Teases Its Next Hero With an Overpowered Tag Team
Luna Snow's team-up with an iconic X-Men hero fuels speculation about that character being the next addition to Marvel Rival's ever-growing roster.
Akin to the real-world Met Gala, the annual Hellfire Gala showcases some fabulous high fashion, and this is seen with a large list of outfits being showcased in the trailer. Bruce Banner, Hela, Captain America, and Black Panther are seen arriving at the festivities through a Krakoa portal, all looking ready for the event. Further, Luna Snow, Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, and Cloak & Dagger appear to have brand-new skins, with their photos being taken in celebration as they pose for the camera.
Though some expected Blade or Doctor Doom to have a presence in Marvel Rivals Season 2, they are nowhere to be found in the announcement trailer.
Emma Frost Looks to Be a Much-Needed Addition to the Vanguard Roster
Hopefully, More Players Will Be Willing To Take on the Role
Marvel Rivals is no doubt in dire need of a new Vanguard, and potentially one with a different playing style as well. With 37 playable characters available, only nine currently have the Vanguard role. Emma Frost may revitalize some players into taking on the role, as many people in the community are often asking themselves why nobody wants to be the tank for the team.
I've played quite a bit of competitive mode in Marvel Rivals. More often than not, the Vanguard role is filled in last, seemingly reluctantly. With this being the case, many matches unfortunately end up having one tank, which definitely puts added pressure on the solo Vanguard player of the team. Last season, The Thing was definitely a welcome addition, so much so that he's even seen a lot of professional play in recent esports tournaments, but his brawler play style is somewhat similar to that of Hulk.
Here's hoping Emma Frost brings a new and unique play style to the role and gradually increases the number of Vanguard mains among the player base in time. But even with this addition, the Vanguard roster will still be particularly small, so it would be great to see NetEase adding a lot more tanks to Marvel Rivals later this year. Until then, I'll definitely be looking forward to what the Hellfire Gala season will bring to the game.
