There's a huge missed opportunity in the Punk Revolution update for Marvel Rivals, and it's one that feels quite strange. The update brought us two new character costumes, one for Magik and one for Hulk. While these are two of the more popular characters for people to use in the game, it still leaves out one character who has been part of the game before in the Alpha but has been missing since.
There are plenty of costumes available in Marvel Rivals, but they are not all created equal. In Season 1, we have been receiving new costumes in a number of ways, but these themed updates tend to have some of the better ones. Usually, these costumes change the character in a more significant way than just a recolor or a slightly different outfit. For instance, Luna Snow's themed update gave us an entirely new costume with new music and a different look.
Spider-Punk Was Not Included In This Costume Update
The Most Punk Character In Marvel Doesn't Exist In The Game Yet
The most obvious character for the Punk Revolution update would have been Hobie Brown's Spider-Punk. After all, Punk is in the name! It feels quite strange that the resident punk expert would have been left out, particularly since there has been a version of his costume in the game before when it was still in Alpha. The costume, along with a number of others, disappeared after that point. Many of them have made their way back into the game since so it felt like it was just a matter of time.

Marvel Rivals Has Banned Blitz - Here's What That Means For You
Marvel Rivals has taken its next step for competitive balance by banning the popular plugin Blitz, but this comes with pros and cons to be addressed.
Additionally, a costume for Spider-Punk also seemingly leaked according to YouTuber Dylbobz, making it seem like it should be coming soon.
To not have him released during the Punk Revolution update feels out of place, and there must be a reason behind it. Some have pointed out that a different Spider-Man skin dropped recently, but that hasn't stopped them from adding multiple new costumes for one character at a time in the past.
Magik & Hulk Got Punk Costumes First
The Headliners For This Update Were Not Expected
It felt odd that Magik and Hulk got their Punk costumes first, particularly since Spider-Punk was in the Alpha. While their costumes are undoubtedly cool, this sets them up to be the headliners of this roster if more of the leaks prove to be true. Spider-Punk is the leader of his group of futuristic-themed characters in his 2022 comic series, and I would have wanted him to headline here as well.
Hulk in particular looks quite different from his normal appearance, giving players a bigger incentive to want to buy this new skin in Marvel Rivals. Magik doesn't feel quite as different as her other appearances in the game, but she is incredibly popular. Oddly, the most played character, Cloak & Dagger, still only has one extra costume, so if it was a matter of popularity, other characters might have come first.
Why I Believe Spider-Punk Was Left Out Of This Update
Spider-Punk's Costume Needs To Be Worth The Wait
I think there are two different ways this could end up going, based on the direction the team has decided to go. Spider-Man does have costumes based on non-Peter Parker versions of the hero in the game already. However, both of them are based on the clone of Peter Parker, not someone else. It's possible that due to this, the team decided they wanted to introduce him as his own character with different abilities.
However, with the leaks from the YouTuber and the presence of his skin in the past, this feels less likely. I would love for Spider-Punk to have his own hero, but that doesn't seem to be the direction they're taking. Instead, the leaks suggest that Spider-Punk would instead come in at the end of a long line of Punk-themed costumes.

Strategist Meta In Marvel Rivals Gets Major Shakeup After The Healer Nerf
Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 has brought major Strategist nerfs that have shaken up pick/win rates, changing the popular picks in several matches.
If he does end up being the capstone of the Punk Revolution roster, I believe they put him at the end for a reason. His costume was pulled from the game, and we have evidence of new costumes in Marvel Rivals changing the game. If he has to come last, his costume should completely change Spider-Man's use in the game.
Like Luna Snow, Spider-Punk could completely change the music used when performing certain moves in the game. Likewise, his ultimate ability could switch from the more generic one to an attack involving his guitar. His basic moves may not change, but if he's coming in at the end, I want it to be for a good reason. I want his character to feel entirely different from Peter's, even if he is just added as a costume rather than a character in Marvel Rivals.
