announcement of a December 6, 2024, release date.

As of now, 25 characters from across the Marvel franchise are confirmed for the roster at launch. These heroes are split up into three roles: tank (Vanguard), DPS (Duelist), and (Strategist). Proper balance is important when picking a team, but the lack of required roles helps the fluidity of the hero-shooter in all heroes free to unlock.

All Reliably Leaked Heroes For Marvel Rivals

All Found In The Marvel Rivals Pre-Alpha Code

The largest leak of Marvel Rivals comes from Miller Ross on X (formerly Twitter. This leak was back in May and holds weight due to the characters listed that did end up in the closed alpha and beta. Most recently, the announcement trailer confirmed two more leaks, Captain America and Winter Soldier. The following are the leaked characters who have not shown up yet and the roles they could have:

Character

Possible Role

Human Torch

Duelist

Hawkeye

Duelist

Cloak & Dagger

Duelist/Strategist

Ultron

Vanguard/Duelist

Moon Knight

Duelist

Squirrel Girl

Strategist

Black Widow

Duelist

Mr Fantastic

Strategist

Blade

Duelist

Psylocke

Duelist/Strategist

Wolverine

Vanguard/Duelist

Invisible Woman

Strategist

The Thing

Vanguard

Iron Fist

Vanguard/Duelist

Doctor Doom

Vanguard/Duelist

Besides Doom, who has been teased in trailers, all of these were in the code for the closed alpha. There is a chance some of these have been scrapped, but it would likely be a missed opportunity to not include them. It will also be interesting to see if any of these are added to the launch roster, or how new heroes will be released once the game is out.

Gaming leaks should always be taken with a bit of skepticism – while these characters appearing in the pre-alpha code is promising, there has not been any more substantial evidence to confirm they'll all make it to release at some point.

Roles For The Leaked Marvel Rivals Characters Are Unknown, But Can Be Predicted

Roles Are Important For Balancing The Hero Shooter

Though most Marvel characters could qualify as Duelists, the developers seem to take great care in deciding on a fitting role. However, it should be mentioned that Duelist has the most characters, and is likely to always be the most prominent. Vanguard can be tricky for characters who aren't bulky like a Hulk or Venom, which then brings their abilities into . This is most present in characters like Wolverine or Ultron, who may not have the size of most Vanguards but have abilities that play into the self-sustaining tank role.

The Strategist is also a tricky role to fill. Where someone like Mantis fits, Rocket Raccoon needs to be more tuned to it. A pair like Cloak & Dagger could be damage-focused, but could also use their abilities to a team through stealth and slight healing. In contrast, Mr Fantastic perfectly fits the role of a Strategist, using his flexibility to likely buff allies, and could have some technology to heal. Overall, these two roles need a bit more creativity to help place characters and keep the three roles as balanced as possible.

The most interesting part of Marvel Rivals characters, after which are coming to the game, is how many will be added. Hero shooters usually vary on the size of rosters, but a game like this from such a rich franchise shouldn't be afraid to add as many as possible. However, the above are all the characters that have been leaked to appear in Marvel Rivals, so far.
