Jeff the Land Shark is an odd but charming character in Marvel Rivals whose abilities are designed to help your team. With elusive movement, healing skills, and one of the strongest Ultimate moves in the game, Jeff is a great character to have as a teammate. Those looking to become a much-needed Strategist for their group should take the time to learn everything Jeff can do.
Strategists are low-health characters who specialize in backing up DPS Duelists and tank-like Vanguards on their team. This class includes some of the best characters in Marvel Rivals, as the ability to keep allies alive can determine victory or defeat in many circumstances. Jeff the Land Shark is perhaps the easiest Strategist to pick up, with abilities that reflect the archetype's greatest strengths.

Jeff doesn't do a lot of damage to enemies, as his role is mainly to stay among friends and heal them using his abilities. Among other Strategists, Jeff the Land Shark may be the most evasive of the class, with skills that allow him to move to unexpected places. This extra mobility gives Jeff more ways to avoid enemy attacks, which lets him stay alive longer to his friends.

Ultimate |
N/A |
Deep dive into the scene and resurface to swallow both enemies and allies within range, activating Hide and Seek for a brief duration before ejecting the swallowed heroes forward. |
Hide and Seek is the core of Jeff's mobility, making it extremely difficult for enemies to hit you. Your ive healing during this "swimming" state makes it even harder to defeat you, especially as you retreat to the upper corners of different spaces to hide. This can be a good ability to use when you are being pursued by aggressive characters, such as Iron Fist in Marvel Rivals.
You can exit Hide and Seek at any time by pressing the same input you used to go into that ability. You have to use another input to start wall-climbing while in your "swimming" state, similar to mechanics seen with Spider-Man or Venom.
With Oblivious Cuteness, you are even harder to eliminate since you take reduced damage from critical hits. This prevents sniper characters like Hawkeye or Black Widow from taking you out easily, allowing you to set more bubbles or spray healing water on your allies. The longer you stay alive using your abilities, the more you can grant your team.
How To Use Jeff The Land Shark's Ultimate
Throw Enemies Off The Map
Jeff the Land Shark has arguably one of the strongest Ultimates in the game right now, as it can be used to eliminate groups of enemies instantly. When Jeff uses their Ultimate, any allies he swallows are healed rapidly until he spits them out. Enemies, however, take continuous damage while eaten by Jeff until the Land Shark decides to throw them back up.
While you can use this Ultimate to simply reposition allies and enemy players, this ability has a secret feature. Jeff can shoot allies over the edges of a map, causing them to perish as soon as they fall too far. Although some characters with mobility skills may be able to escape this situation, those abilities may be on cooldown, preventing them from getting back to the map before it's too late.
Be careful where you place your allies swallowed by Jeff's Ultimate. You don't want to accidentally eliminate your teammates when you're trying to take down a few enemies!
The true menace behind Jeff in Marvel Rivals is how he can choose to fall off a map with everyone swallowed by his Ultimate. This will eliminate Jeff in the process, but it will also eliminate all allies and enemies swallowed by him. Those who place this Ultimate to absorb multiple enemies can take out a large group of enemies simply by jumping off the map, making the move terrifying to face.
Best Team Composition For Jeff The Land Shark
Figure Out Who Can Team Up With You
Some of the best characters to pair with Jeff on a team are:
- Luna Snow
- Namor
- Squirrel Girl
- Groot
- Rocket Racoon
Groot is the best Vanguard to have alongside Jeff, as both characters have a unique Team-Up ability together called "New Friends." This Team-Up ability in Marvel Rivals lets Jeff the Land Shark ride on Groot's shoulders, making him take less damage from enemy attacks. Rocket Racoon can also use this Team-Up with Groot, so having both characters on your team can help keep those Strategists alive longer.

Marvel Rivals: Groot Character Guide (Abilities, Ultimate, Tips & Tricks)
Knowing how to use Groot's character well in Marvel Rivals requires knowing how to use his abilities and ultimate so you can dominate the game.
Similarly, having Luna Snow on your team with Jeff gives the Land Shark another Team-Up skill. This time, Jeff gains a new ability called "Frozen Spitball," which changes the properties of his Aqua Burst secondary attack. When you activate this move, Jeff's water balls become infused with ice energy, causing them to deal more damage and leave areas of ice on impact that slow down opponents.
Once you activate "Frozen Spitball," it lasts for 10 seconds. When it is finished, it has a 30-second cooldown before it can be used again.
Namor gains this same ability with Luna Snow, making him another great ally to have on Jeff's team. Squirrel Girl is a fantastic Duelist to use with Jeff as well, with the character capable of using stun abilities to ensure Jeff's empowered ice balls always hit enemies. The two characters can combine their abilities for explosive damage, making Jeff far more menacing an opponent than rival teams may expect.
Best Tips, Tricks & Strategies For Winning
Stay With Your Team Often
With only 250 health, Jeff the Land Shark is far more fragile than other characters in Marvel Rivals. Although he can use his bubbles to heal himself, Jeff's best strategy is to avoid conflict while near the safety of other team . Ideally, your team should try to protect you whenever a character like Venom, Iron Fist, or Spider-Man tries to target you for quick elimination.
When you do get cornered, use Hide and Seek to avoid enemy attacks while retreating to your team. Your ive healing during this state and reduced hurtbox size will make it incredibly difficult for enemies to eliminate you. Try to use your boosted mobility while swimming around to find health packs on maps in Marvel Rivals while doing this to ensure even greater chances at survival.
The burst damage of your long-range bubbles is perfect for slightly disrupting enemy teams and scoring rare eliminations on foes whose health has been brought low.
When playing Jeff, you have the tools to prevent your strongest team from being eliminated. That being said, do not waste all charges of your healing bubbles at once, as these take time to recover. Using bubbles on allies who haven't been injured much is a waste of a limited resource, especially when you can heal minor damage using your Joyful Spray primary attack instead.
Always abuse your Ultimate attack to contest objectives, as enemies are easier to swallow in places where they will likely group up the most. If you manage to eliminate a group of foes, your team has a great chance of capturing points or gaining progress on goals toward victory. This ability for Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals may get nerfed in the future, but for now, it remains one of his best tricks to use.
