Marvel Rivals is a competitive hero shooter with a ton of different compositions and roles that players can attune themselves to for different situations. That being said, not every hero fits every situation and some heroes fit into certain compositions, one of which is known as the dive comp.

A dive comp focuses on quickly rushing into the battle and targeting key enemies, such as enemy Strategists or main Duelists of the enemies' composition. Dive comps generally get better the higher as you climb competitive ranks due to the fact they require heavy coordination along with target prioritization in order to work efficiently. While this does have counters like every other composition in the game, a good dive team can tear the enemy apart before they even get the chance to retaliate.

How To Build A Dive Comp

“You'll Need A Top Notch Team To Win This One!”

With 37 heroes being in Marvel Rivals, many of them can be used in dive compositions, thus many types of dive compositions are valuable, as not every type of dive is the same. While more dives follow the simple scope of “go in as fast as possible and focus on a single target,” the targets and how they're typically approached change between compositions. By choosing certain heroes, especially Vanguards, you'll notice a quick difference between which heroes would typically fit into one type of playstyle versus another.

Each dive comp will typically be around a 2/2/2 setup, but this is not always true as some can opt for triple Strategists or even triple Duelists in some situations. When it comes to building a good team composition for you and your team, it ultimately revolves around what your team is good at playing and how you can counter the enemy team to your advantage. Team-ups are a huge part of a lot of dive compositions, though not necessarily required, but they're a heavy point, especially for characters like Spider-Man or Jeff, who gain a ton of power with their team-ups.

Marvel Rivals: How To Pick The Best Vanguard (Team Comp Guide)

Vanguards are arguably the most important role on a team comp in Marvel Rivals, but it can be hard to pick the "right" character in various scenarios.

Brawl-type dive compositions focus on quickly running down the enemy with damage and crowd control, focusing on key front-line or poorly-positioned back-line heroes. Assassination compositions focus on getting in, killing one or two key targets, then, depending on their success, getting out quickly or killing the rest of the enemy team.

Flanking teams are unique as each role has a different purpose. Vanguards are key distractions, Marvel Rivals' Duelists focus on attempting to kill and distract the back-line, and the Strategists focus on applying damage to the enemy front line along with their healing while potentially assisting their Duelists.

“Pick Your Hero! Or Villain. I'm Not Judging…”

When you want to build your team composition, there are a few key factors to . The most significant thing is making sure your team has true ultimates, such as Luna Snow, Invisible Woman, Cloak and Dagger, or Mantis to counter enemy Duelist ultimates. While not always needing two, at least having one is essential to stalling fights and saving multiple allies at once.

10 Best Marvel Rivals Team-Ups (& How To Perform Them)

With how many team-ups there are in Marvel Rivals, it can be hard to keep track of them all or what's worth using, but some stand out above the rest.

Another essential factor is selecting which heroes work best together. While this is usually dictated through team-ups, this is not always true, and some heroes work surprisingly well together despite lacking a team-up they can depend on.

Brawl Dive Comps

There are two brawl compositions which revolve around flyers and Wolverine, respectively. Wolverine is a key factor, especially when having a comp that wants to quickly kill enemy tanks. Flying teams typically utilize the combination of Hulk and Iron Man or Storm and The Human Torch, using both their team-ups to dominate lobbies with their damage options.

Both these compositions work incredibly well with a Star Lord addition, along with Adam Warlock and Mantis to fill damage and activate their team-up, giving all three increased combat time due to resurrections. Flying teams do benefit slightly more from an Invisible Woman pick, as the shield can provide a ton of midair protection and healing without dedicated healing focused on them.

Assassination Dive Comps

Assassination compositions require high damage and proper target selection in order to kill key targets. Strategists in this composition will also require the ability to quickly or quietly move around as most of their tanks won't typically focus on protecting them, since they'll be busy killing the enemy back line. This means Strategists with a ton of mobility, or the ability to escape, are key to this style of play.

Flanking Dive Comps

Flanking teams requires constant pressure from every aspect of battle and throws the enemy team into chaos. While this team isn't as kill-reliant as others, you do still need to get kills, and this team is still great at getting them. This team also doesn't require as much coordination as the others, and in solo queue, you're more likely to have something similar to this team comp a majority of the time.

This team also excels at high ground when used with champions like Loki and Hela, who greatly pressure the front line when combined with flankers who go to the back, such as Scarlet Witch or Black Panther. The variant of this dive comp utilizes Doctor Strange to quickly teleport the entire team to flank areas.
