Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye will become Ronin in Captain America: Civil War.

However, Hawkeye was noticeably absent from the events of Barton family being victims of Thanos' snap.

Ahead of his theatrical transformation, the switch has only been teased by Endgame's marketing so far. The quick shots of his new suit and weapons do not give the full picture of what sets Ronin apart from Hawkeye. In the latest Screen Rant video, we looked at some of the major differences between Hawkeye and Ronin in Marvel comics and how they compare to the MCU's iteration of the character.

While even the most casual of fans will be able to already pick up on the new look and weapons that come with the Ronin name, there's plenty of other differences. Barton becoming more of a lone vigilante can be seen to be part of the MCU's take on the Ronin attitude, but him taking on more leadership remains to be seen. It's not currently clear if Barton will pick up the Ronin mantle from anyone else in the MCU as he did in the comics, but him adopting this new name and look could pave the way for Kate Bishop potentially.

It's not known what future Barton has in the MCU. There's been some rumors that he could receive a solo project in the future, either as a film or limited series on Disney Plus, but those talks have yet to be confirmed. Since Barton is likely only going to get back involved with the Avengers to save his family, hopefully he'll at least be able to get such a reunion in his future. But, with most of the other original Avengers expected to sacrifice their lives in Avengers: Endgame, it's possible that Barton won't get that opportunity.
