Robert Herman was born to a deeply anti-mutant father, who turned against his own son when Robert's waxy, transparent skin developed, giving him his signature unsettling look. From the moment he arrived at Xavier's, he battled issues with his new appearance and the beliefs he was raised with, leading him to rebel alongside some of his fellow students (namely, Kid Omega). In the following years, he witnessed some of mutantkind's worst tragedies but still evolved into a better person.
