The X-Men, a team of mutant superheroes, were first introduced to the world through a comic created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1963. These mutants, and their leader Dr. Xavier, steadily continued to grow in popularity and numbers, making appearances on TV, in books, and video games over the years. Over the past two decades, the X-Men film franchise showcased some of the most popular mutants to the world over the course of 12 feature films.
However, there are still a great number of X-Men characters that are yet to be seen in a live-action films. Some of these are major names, while others are underrated even in the comic universe, but it's about time they got their shot at the big screen. Scroll below to discover 10 such characters that the MCU needs to showcase next!
Forge
First appearing in Uncanny X-Men #184, Forge is a mutant who possesses immense knowledge and talent when it comes to the world of technology. Not only does Forge have a long history working with the government as a weapon’s contractor, he also is closely associated with the X-Men.
He had a brief affair with both Storm and Mystique, as well as greatly helped in enhancing the technology of the X-Men mansion. With his unmatched brilliance and intellect in the field of tech, Forge would make a great addition to the X-Men, or even the Avengers on screen.
Armor
First appearing in Astonishing X-Men Vol.3, Hisako Ichiki, better known as Armor, is a Japanese mutant. She studies at the Xavier institute with other young mutants. As her superhero name suggests, she holds the ability to literally project a suit of armor around her body. This psionic exoskeleton armor makes her invulnerable and agile, while giving her superhuman strength, endurance, and dexterity.
Not only would her set of superhuman skills greatly aid the X-Men in the MCU, but her exoskeleton armor would also look incredible on screen.
Dust
Sooraya Qadir, or Dust, is the X-Men’s first Muslim recruit. She is not only incredibly powerful, but also very empowering as a character.
Dust discovers her powers after a slave trader tries to forcibly remove her niqab, and she inexplicably turns into a cloud of sand, flaying him alive in seconds. In today's world, not only do we need to see characters like Dust to bring more cultural diversity to the MCU, but also for her fearlessness and empowering nature that is inspiring to all.
Madison Jefferies
Madison Jefferies first appeared in 2009, in the title Uncanny X-Men #505. He holds the power to reshape metal, plastic or glass into any shape he desires. He also possesses the ability to communicate with artificial intelligence.
With such a great set of skills, it's surprising that Jeffries hasn’t made it to the big screen yet. His power to communicate with and manipulate technology would certainly come in handy to Dr. Xavier’s team!
Chamber
Jonathan Evan Starsmore, better known as Chamber, first appeared in the New Mutants Vol. 4. He is the ideal tragic hero the MCU needs to showcase on screen. Even though he holds the incredible ability to shoot energy blasts out of his chest, his control over this ability is limited. Hence, Chamber ends up destroying a part of his chest and face, leaving him sullen. The MCU might already be chock full of talented X-Men, but Chamber could bring out deeper human emotion into the films.
Dark Beast
With the introduction of an alternate reality in X-Men: The Apocalypse, and X-Men: Days Of The Future Past, the dark beast could be an interesting character for the MCU to explore on the big screen.
First introduced in Excalibur Vol.3, the Dark Beast, also known as the Black Beast, is a super villain and Hank McCoy’s alternate personality from a different dimension. Exploring the dark side of a beloved character like the beast could be incredibly interesting in film.
Kid Omega
Kid Omega, or Quentin Quire, was first introduced to the world in 2003 through the comic New X-Men #134. From the very start of his journey at the X mansion, Quentin is recognized for his impeccable talents and mentored closely by Dr. Xavier.
He is known to be a brilliant telepath, one of the strongest perhaps. He might have a tough exterior and a harsh personality, but his genius intellect and unmatchable telekinesis skills definitely make him a character to look out for on the big screen.
Sunfire
Sunfire, or Shiro Yoshida is a Japanese mutant, and a former part of the X-Men. His powers include the ability to fly and create superheated plasma. However, it's not solely his skills that makes fans yearn to see him on screen.
Much like dust, Sunfire brings out a sense of cultural diversity to the Marvel universe, that the MCU currently lacks. Moroever, his arrogant attitude and temperamental persona will also make for a fiery character on screen.
Northstar
Northstar, also known as Jean-Paul Beaubier, first appeared in X-Men #120. He is a member of Alpha Flight, a Canadian superhero team. His powers include flying, superhuman speed, and the ability to project energy blasts.
What makes Northstar super interesting is that not only is he one of the first openly gay superhero characters to ever be written, but was also a part of the first same-sex wedding ever showcased in a comic book. Therefore, his story could be extremely riveting for fans to see on screen.
Pete Wisdom
What could be more interesting than if James Bond developed mutant powers? Pete Wisdom, first appearing in Excalibur vol. 1, brings the world of spies and superheroes together in the X-Men comics.
He is a part of the British secret service, and also possesses the power to throw hot blades of energy from his fingertips. One can only imagine the number of possibilities MCU could delve into by introducing such a stimulating character on screen.
