Cancers are all about two things: family and love. They value the importance of having a home and prioritizing the relationships in their lives. In other words, Cancers are the moody, sensitive, and emotional types that will value people above all else. As individuals ruled by the moon, what more could be expected?

There are many characters in the MCU that reflect the Cancer zodiac sign. There are also characters that are so divergent from typical Cancers that it may be hard to understand them for what they are. Here are the 5 Marvel characters Cancer will relate to, and 5 they simply won’t understand.

Relate: Black Widow

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow

There’s more than what meets the eye with Black Widow, and this deepness is what Cancer gravitates towards easily. At face value, she’s cold and ruthless, but behind her stony exterior is a woman who loves her friends more than anything, even dying for them (too soon).

Although her ability to have a family has been heartbreakingly removed from her life, she adores Hawkeye's family and finds solace in her colleagues.

Won't Understand: Iron Man

Iron Man (1)

Tony Stark is many things, all of which a Cancer just can’t get. As a leader in business and technology, he spends most of his nights alone in his office, so that means putting his personal life on hold.

For Cancers, their personal lives are the reason they get up in the morning - their loved ones propel them forward, so when a character like Tony Stark comes along, it’s hard for them to fathom why they choose to be so alone.

Relate: Ant-Man

Ant-Man in his shower in the movie

Ant-Man may seem like the underdog of the Avengers, but his devotion is something that a Cancer can relate to without a doubt.

Burdened with bad decisions of his past, Ant-Man does his best to turn his life around for his daughter. And that’s exactly why he puts his past behind him and becomes the Ant-Man. It’s hard to move on from past mistakes and the fact that the Ant-Man is willing to do that for his daughter will melt Cancer’s hearts everywhere.

Won't Understand: Bruce Banner/The Hulk

Bruce

Just like Tony Stark, Bruce Banner chooses isolation as company. Even when he had a thing with Black Widow going, he ended up leaving and hiding as The Hulk for up to two years.

Banner is someone who deals with extreme self-esteem issues while also being an intelligent scientist, so prioritizing personal relationships and family life aren’t on the top of his to-do list.

Relate: Thor

Thor (1)

Thor is the epitome of a Cancer, and that’s why Cancers will relate to him in a heartbeat. He’s sensitive, in tune with his emotions, and at times, moody.

With each MCU movie, there’s a different side to Thor, and much like the moon and the ocean Cancers live by, they too ebb and flow. Thor is a gentle soul, and because of it, he just might be a Cancer’s favorite.

Won't Understand: Thanos

Thanos (1)

Probably one of the least Cancer-like characters, Thanos takes the cake on how Cancers can’t understand him. He destroyed everyone’s families by wiping out 50 percent of the world’s population, and the only person he cares about is himself.

He may have had a soft spot for one of his adopted daughters, Gamora, but in the end, he even sacrificed her for one of the Infinity Stones. Thanos has no caring bone in his giant purple alien body, and that’s something Cancers just can’t get behind.

Relate: Black Panther

Black Panther (1)

Black Panther is all about family, which is why this is a movie Cancers will be drawn toward! Black Panther follows T’Challa as he fights to keep his family protected from Erik Killmonger.

This entire movie values the importance of family - they even have a secret hidden world (Wakanda) in order to keep their entire family, past and present, protected!

Won't Understand: Loki

Loki

There are lots of things that don’t make sense about Loki, which is exactly why he isn’t Cancer's favorite. He flip-flops about what side he is on from movie-to-movie, and he always seems to betray Thor or the rest of his family in some way.

Not to mention he tried to take over the world in The Avengers. Loki is a fickle character, one Cancers just won’t be able to understand.

Relate: Peter Quill

Peter Quill from Guardians of the Galaxy

Peter Quill may not have a home and he may not have much of a family, but his big heart grants him these very things throughout Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as a fanbase for Cancers. Losing his mother at a young age and then being abducted by aliens brought Peter Quill a very different life.

But that life taught him that family doesn’t have to be blood-related, and the home he was taken from soon became home in the people he fought within the galaxies.

Won't Understand: Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange (1)

His very name represents the sentiments Cancers may feel toward this character - strange. Doctor Strange’s aloofness and hostility at the beginning of the movie is something that a Cancer won’t be able to relate to. Strange essentially drove his significant other away and he chose to be alone.

Additionally, his lust for power over the Time Stone is another aspect Cancer won’t get - power over love isn’t something they usually prioritize.
