Married At First Sight season 18, Ikechi has been one of the more difficult cast to watch, especially in his moments with his MAFS bride Emem Obot. Though Ikechi and Emem seemed like they’d be a good match on paper when the MAFS experts explained why they were pairing them, their relationship has unfolded in a difficult, sometimes overwhelming way that paints Ikechi in a poor light.

While the majority of Married At First Sight season 18’s cast are struggling in their relationships, Emem and Ikechi’s marriage has been the one closest to falling apart throughout the season. Though the pair appear to both want to move into genuinely serious relationship, Ikechi’s behavior has made it impossible for Emem to trust him, and in turn, Ikechi doesn’t appear to trust Emem at all. After throwing around serious allegations of her being sexually aggressive and then walking them back quickly, Ikechi has become insufferable for MAFS viewers. His poor behavior proves the show isn’t casting the right participants.

Although Married At First Sight season 18 has been featuring other couples’ hardships as well, Emem and Ikechi’s difficulties have been at the forefront throughout the season. After meeting during their wedding, Emem and Ikechi appeared to be building a decent connection, but something changed around the time the pair returned from their honeymoon. While Ikechi had already been showing some red flags, he didn’t really start to show genuine issues until he saw how Emem lived back in Chicago.

When Ikechi realized how high-powered, successful, and independent Emem was, it became clear that he wasn’t as interested in building a relationship. Ikechi had clearly been looking for someone who would fall into line with his beliefs a bit more, rather than coming into the relationship with their own. Throughout the season, Ikechi has cast falsehoods at Emem and about her to others, trying to make her look controlling and aggressive because she has her own independent life outside of their marriage.

Ikechi’s Repeated MAFS Applications Should’ve Taken Him Out Of The Running

He’s Applied To The Show At Least Three Times

As Emem and Ikechi got into the thick of their marriage, Married At First Sight viewers took a deeper look at Ikechi because of his difficult behavior. After realizing that the MAFS season 18 cast member had applied for the show at least three times outside of his application for the current season, Married At First Sight viewers understood Ikechi had issues. While it’s not clear if he just really wanted the MAFS experience or was looking for clout, the MAFS experts should’ve pulled Ikechi out of the running for the season after realizing just how many times he’s applied.

MAFS Casting Ikechi Proves The Show Isn’t Looking At The Right Factors

He Wasn’t Cast For The Right Reasons

After Ikechi’s behavior has been on full display during Married At First Sight season 18, it’s become clear that he never should’ve been cast on the series. Ikechi wasn’t cast for the right reasons, finding a genuine connection and building a relationship. Instead, he was cast because he’d incessantly applied for the series in several different locations, showing his interest in ing the show. Casting Ikechi for clout, it’s clear that his behavior wasn’t considered in the decision, but Married At First Sight has yet to acknowledge they’ve made a mistake bringing him onto the show.
