Though there are many incompatible couples on Emem is a strong and independent woman and has made it clear that she's doing just fine without a partner, and since that's the case, she never should have been cast on Married At First Sight.

The first problem between Emem and Ikechi was highlighted when Ikechi called his wife "aggressive" in front of her friends and family. He also called her sexually aggressive, which she apologized for, but the disagreement really underscored Emem and Okech's incompatibility. Because Emem clearly needs a certain type of man who is strong enough to appreciate her boldness, the experts should have found another partner for her, or not to cast her at all.

Emem Is Too Bold For Her Timid Partner

He's Intimidated By Her

The core issue between Ikechi and Emem seems to be a lack of attraction, a lot of which stems from just how powerful Emem is. There's no real chemistry or romantic spark between them, and despite their efforts, it’s just not enough to make it work. If there was any true connection, Ikechi wouldn’t have told Emem that he prefers women with "softer" personalities—a comment that deeply affected their marriage from then on.

Such remarks are tough to recover from, and to make matters worse, Ikechi purposefully ignored Emem’s messages as a way of asserting control. Ikechi recognizes just how strong his new wife is, and instead of embracing that, he's proving just how uncomfortable he is with this dynamic. The ongoing miscommunications and lack of attraction only underscore that the MAFS experts misjudged their compatibility when they matched Ikechi and Emem, and this is something they can’t seem to overcome.

Ikechi Is Uncomfortable With Emem's Success

He Doesn't Want An Accomplished Woman

Ikechi’s behavior on Married At First Sight has highlighted his difficulty in dealing with a woman who is both successful and independent. That's because Emem doesn’t need him to feel complete. On the contrary, Emem is looking for a lifelong partner, but she also leads a fulfilling life where her sense of self-worth isn’t tied solely to her romantic relationships.

While Ikechi initially said he wanted a partner whose values aligned with his own, it quickly became clear that what he actually wanted was someone he could dominate and control. It’s apparent now that Ikechi had a specific image of the wife he wanted. Since Emem isn’t conforming to that vision, he feels uncomfortable.
