Anyone who has been keeping up with made his return in the show' Season 2 finale. Through the magic of de-aging technology, Mark Hamill returned as Luke Skywalker in a brief but epic appearance.
For countless fans, Hamill will always be Luke Skywalker thanks to his performance in the original trilogy. But while Hamill has struggled to step outside that iconic role, he does have a number of very memorable film and television appearances that prove he is much more than just Luke Skywalker.
Trickster - The Flash
While many fans might know Hamill's voice work for a certain DC villain, he also made an impression with his live-action turn on The Flash as the villainous trouble-maker, The Trickster.
Tricker is a criminal who goes around in a silly costume acting cartoonishly deranged. While it might not sound like much, Hamill clearly is having a lot of fun with the role and it's hard not to have fun along with him. Interestingly, Hamill originated the role on the 1990s Flash show before reprising it in the modern version.
Himself - The Simpsons
Even when he tries to do something outside of the Star Wars universe, it seems hard for Hamill to escape the role of Luke Skywalker. However, Hamill had some fun with this fact on The Simpsons when he played himself.
In the Season 10 episode "Mayored to the Mob", Hamill is seen starring in a production of the musical Guys and Dolls. However, much to his annoyance, they have rewritten the story so that he is playing Luke Skywalker in the show.
Professor Arnold - Kingsman: The Secret Service
TheThe Kingsman is one of the few instances in which Hamill appeared in a big blockbuster without playing Luke Skywalker. He appears in an early scene as a scientist who is abducted by an evil genius, played by Samiel L. Jackson, who thinks he is saving the world.
It is a small role, but Hamill is memorable in it. While it would have been fun to see him stick around the story a bit more and get in on the action, we do get to see his head explode all over Colin Firth.
Ted Mitchum - Brigsby Bear
The underrated comedy Brigsby Bear is a charming and odd gem more people should seek out. It stars Kyle Mooney as a young man who lived in an underground bunker with his kind yet lonely captor (Hamill).
When the boy is freed years later, he becomes obsessed with finishing his favorite show he watched while in the bunker only to find out it doesn't exist in the real world. Despite the kidnapping storyline, this is a funny and touching movie with a memorable role for Hamill.
Firelord Ozai – Avatar: The Last Airbender
While Luke Skywalker is one of the most iconic heroes in pop culture, Hamill has proven he is quite good at playing villains as well. This is best seen in his voice work for various animated projects, including the anime hit Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Once again, Hamill is clearly having a lot of fun playing the villain. And more than his other bad guy roles, this really gives him an opportunity to be intense and intimidating.
Chucky - Child's Play (2019)
Some people were not happy to hear that there would beChild's Play, especially when it was announced Brad Dourif would not be voicing the role as he had for seven movies. But news that Hamill would take on the role of the serial killer toy doll offered some comfort.
The updated version finds Chucky as an A.I. doll whose security protocols fail and lead him on a path of bloody mayhem. While the movie itself is forgettable, Hamill has the perfect voice for cuddly yet sinister.
Cocknocker - Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back
Kevin Smith is one of the countless filmmakers whose work is heavily influenced by Star Wars, so it's not surprising a few Star Wars actors show up in Smith's connected universe of characters to prevent a movie based on them from being made.
Hamill makes a memorable cameo at the end of the movie as the Cocknocker, the villain in the movie-within-the-movie. Hamill gets to embrace his funny side and, of course, there are plenty of Star Wars references.
Hobgoblin - Spider-Man
Hamill is one of those rare actors who has played iconic characters in the DC and Marvel universes. In the excellent Spider-Man animated series from the '90s, Hamill made several appearances as the manic Hobgoblin.
Though the Green Goblin might be the more famous goblin villain, Hamill injects the role with a very fun man energy that helped to make the character so much more than just a dull carbon copy character.
Pvt. Griff – The Big Red One
The same year that Hamill reprised his role as Luke Skywalker in role in the underrated war film, The Big Red One. It stars Lee Marvin as a hardened commander of a WWII infantry that makes its way from one brutal battle to the next.
It is very interesting seeing Hamill in the role of a young soldier in the midst of battle. In a great ensemble, Hamill stands out and received a lot of praise from critics at the time.
Joker - Batman: The Animated Series
Though Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix have both won Oscars for playing the infamous Batman villain Joker, many still regard Hamill's version of the character as the best of all time.
The fantastic Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
