After winning Eurovision in 2021, Måneskin was a massive success, and their comeback could save the rock music genre. The Rome-based band was launched into the spotlight after winning the contest with a performance of their song "Zitti E Buoni." In the next few years, they would dominate the music industry with songs like "I Wanna Be Your Slave" and a rendition of The Four Seasons' "Beggin."

The band also received Best New Artist nominations at the Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards, losing the latter to frontman Damiano David's current girlfriend, Dove Cameron. With all their success, it still felt like the Italian rock band was just getting started. The group has only released three studio albums together, with the most recent, Rush!, having been released in January 2023, but a Måneskin comeback is a must for the rock genre.

Måneskin Has Stopped Making Music Together

The Bandmates Are Focusing On Solo Projects

Måneskin released a reissue of Rush! in November 2023 titled Rush! (Are U Coming?). They generated two singles from the album, with the latest released a few days after the album. Unfortunately, the band hasn't made any new music together since. Instead, the band have set their sights on solo projects.

In September 2024, Damiano David released his debut solo single, "Silverlines." The song is a rock ballad, but differs from the kind of rock music that Måneskin previously made. The song even received comparisons to Harry Styles' 2017 single "Sign of the Times," a pop/soft rock song. His next single, "Born With A Broken Heart," was a much more upbeat pop-rock song that expressed a much more vulnerable side of the singer. David's debut solo album is set to be released on May 16th, 2025.

Meanwhile, the band's bass player, Victoria De Angelis, has also put out some solo songs. Most recently, she released her single "T-Shirt," a collaboration with rapper Tommy Genesis and Miss Bashful. The electropop song departs from the rock music De Angelis made with her Måneskin bandmates.

The band's drummer, Ethan Torchio, seems to be on a bit of a hiatus at the moment, though he did lend his drum skills to the Italian documentary Ogni Pensiero Vola. Thomas Raggi, Måneskin's electric guitarist, also seems to be on hiatus. However, he did appear at a concert in LA in February, playing with rock legends like Slash and Tom Morello.

Måneskin Needs To Make Music Together Again

The Band Could Save The Rock Genre

While the band seem to be enjoying their hiatus, Måneskin needs to make a comeback. In recent decades, rock music has not dominated the industry the way it has in the past. The 1970s and 1980s were known for rock bands like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Guns N' Roses. Måneskin was keeping the spirit of the rock bands alive through their modernized rock music. While most musicians these days are inclined to fall into the pop genre, Måneskin was truly unique.

Their reign didn't last long enough for them to have a true legacy or leave their mark on the industry. Coming back together again would revive the rock genre and allow them to have more influence on the industry. It feels like the Måneskin era came and went so fast that the band didn't even have the opportunity for a Billboard #1 song or album. However, now would be the perfect time for them to give their band another shot.

2024 was a big year for pop music, with stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan dominating the industry. However, 2025 has seen a shift. Artists like Role Model and Benson Boone are moving the industry back into a pop-rock sound, opening the gate for more artists to do the same.

If Måneskin made a comeback now, it would likely work in their favor. While Damiano David still has his solo album to promote, he could easily transition back into his role as the Måneskin frontman once his album promo and potential tour are over. Måneskin's popularity a few years ago proved how much audiences long for rock music, and it would be a shame if they didn't return.
