The trailer for the Love, Simon spinoff Annabelle Comes Home) as Victor, a closeted gay teenager who's struggling to adjust to his new life at Creekwood High School. Nick Robinson is reprising his role as Simon Spier for the show, in addition to serving as its narrator. However, he's the only confirmed cast member returning from the 2018 Love, Simon movie so far.

Earlier this year, Love, Victor made waves Disney acquired the Love, Simon film when it bought Fox, so it didn't actually originate under the Mouse House's watch. Judging by the first look, its spinoff series won't be as squeaky-clean as Disney shows are known for being, either.

In addition to dropping a first-look trailer for Love, Victor, Hulu has confirmed the series will premiere on the streamer this year on Friday, June 19. You can watch the clip below.

It's easy to see why Disney balked at putting Love, Simon on Disney+ based on this first-look. Between Victor staring lustfully at the barista and getting - ahem - overexcited while making coffee, this scene is fairly risqué by the Mouse House's standards, despite its lack of explicitly sexual material. At the same time, many people feel the Mouse House has long been guilty of stigmatizing topics like sexual attraction while being comparatively tolerant towards violence in their movies and TV shows. For example, a Disney+ show like The Mandalorian is arguably far more "mature" in its use of violent material than this Love, Victor trailer is in its portrayal of a teenaged boy being awkward around someone he finds attractive.

Beyond that, people are adding shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly to Disney+, in what appears to be an attempt to loosen their content restrictions and avoid similar controversies in the future.
