Netflix has renewed Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, the titular L. A. defense attorney, as he takes the case of a developer accused of double murder. During its first week of streaming, The Lincoln Lawyer was Netflix's most-watched English series, and it continues to dominate the streamer's top 10 most-watched list even now.
Now, Netflix has officially greenlit The Lincoln Lawyer season 2. Plot and cast details on the new show are slim, but the site remarks that the second season will also consist of 10 episodes and will adapt Connelly's fourth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Fifth Witness. Series regulars Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Simpson are expected to return alongside Garica-Rulfo for season 2. It has also been confirmed that Queen of the South's Dailyn Rodriguez will serve as a co-showrunner alongside Humphrey in the new season.
Given 's appreciable reception and outstanding viewership, a renewal was mostly a no-brainer, although, given Netflix's record with canceling shows, things could have gone awry. While there is no doubt that The Lincoln Lawyer is widely popular, particularly among an older demographic, its story was targeted at fans of legal pulp. The show pulled too much from the books rather than trying to become a thing of its own. With that criticism in mind, hopefully, the makers will attempt to bring a sense of novelty to the series, especially now that The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 has added some great talent behind the lens.
