In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant ahead of season 3's release, Michael Connelly confirmed that an eighth Lincoln Lawyer book is coming. The author says that he has a new book coming out very soon and, after that, he will begin writing the next book in the Lincoln Lawyer series. Read his full comments below:

I'm going to start writing one. I have a book coming out on Tuesday, and then I'm going to start writing the next one, which will be a Lincoln Lawyer book.

It Could Run For A Long Time

Michael Connelly's confirmation that an eighth Lincoln Lawyer book is coming means that Netflix's series could run for a long time. The book series began in 2005 and currently spans seven novels – The Lincoln Lawyer, The Brass Verdict, The Reversal, The Fifth Witness, The Gods of Guilt, The Law of Innocence, and Resurrection Walk – the last of which was published in 2023. So far, the Netflix series, which premiered in 2022, has only adapted three of those books in its first three seasons.

Netflix's series has adapted the books out of order to allow for better storytelling on screen. The first season was based on the second book, The Brass Verdict, and the second season was based on the fourth book, The Fifth Witness. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, which releases October 17 on Netflix, is based on the fifth book, The Gods of Guilt. If they are committed to adapting the entire book series, and with Connelly constantly writing more novels, Netflix's series could run for five or more seasons and potentially become one of the streaming service's longest-running series.
