Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has many systems to explore, but one of the most interesting is the Goro Kingdom, an area where you can farm items from animals you recruit. You can recruit animals to the Goro Kingdom when you meet special creatures in various locations. Once there, Majima can build better friendships with these animals by taking care of them, causing them to produce valuable resources.
Similar to the Golden Balls in LAD: Pirate Yakuza, you have to track down many of the potential recruits for Goro Kingdom by exploring your map. However, you'll meet some Goro Kingdom animals naturally through the main story and quests you've already been following. Once you progress to a certain point in the story, you'll be taught about the Goro Kingdom and the benefits of gathering more animal recruits.

Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii Review - A Rare Treasure, Though Occasionally Lost At Sea
Fan-favorite Goro Majima stars in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, a thoroughly fun and unflinchingly self-indulgent romp that sometimes loses direction.
Once you start recruiting animals, you can build friendships with them by feeding them snacks over time. By feeding an animal in the Goro Kingdom, you raise its Friendship Level, starting at Level 1 and increasing it up to Level 3. Feeding an animal will give you different rewards at each friendship tier, but every creature provides some form of ingredient to help you cook powerful items.
Searching for animals for the Goro Kingdom can be a good opportunity to explore every area of a map. While looking for animals to recruit, try to complete Photo Rallys in LAD: Pirate Yakuza for even more rewards.
The following table shows the location where you can recruit every Goro Kingdom animal, as well as what rewards they offer at each Friendship Level:

Best Ways To Raise Friendship Levels In Goro Kingdom
Create High-Quality Food For Your Animals
After finding animals in LAD: Pirate Yakuza, you need to find them the right food to raise their Friendship Levels fast. At first, you'll only be able to provide Goro Kingdom animals with basic food supplies you buy from local vendors. The quality of the food you give animals determines how many of their reward items they give you.
When you raise animal Friendship Levels to a certain amount, some of Goro Kingdom can help you in combat by ing your crew.
Here are the basic food items you can find or buy around your map, as well as how many rewards they stimulate from animals when fed to them:
- ($10) Regular Pet Food - 2x Level Reward
- ($150) High-End Pet Food - 5x Level Reward
- (Found in Briefcases) Ultimate Pet Food - 7x Level Reward
I've found that the best way to fill up an animal's friendship bar is to create the Essence of Pet Snacks treat multiple times for them. This special food can be made by combining the following ingredients:
- 5x Eggs OR 5x Dairy products
- 5x Random Fish
- 5x Fruits
- 5x Bugs
- 3x Random Meats
Making this special food product drastically increases the friendship of an animal, allowing you to reach their max reward tier fast. Similar to other Like A Dragon titles, having more items to craft from these animals will allow you to make better items in the future. Cooking does not unlock right away though, so you'll have to reach a certain point in the story to gain the ability to make the Essence of Pet Food first.

How Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza Compares To Assassin's Creed Black Flag & Sea of Thieves
Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii isn’t exactly a spiritual successor to games like AC Black Flag and Sea of Thieves, though they do have a lot in common.
Having a kingdom of animals at your side may be overwhelming to maintain them all, but the benefits they provide make the effort worth it. Those who recruit all the animals for Goro Kingdom in Like A Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii will gain the ability to craft much better items for Majima, allowing him to continue on his journey with faithful friends at his side.
