At its E3 2021 Direct, Nintendo revealed that new protagonist, Alex Chen.
Life is Strange: True Colors will take place in Haven Springs, where Alex will be reunited with her brother, Gabe. Sadly though, this reunion is short lived, as Gabe dies suddenly in mysterious circumstances. Alex must use her newfound powers of empathy, that allows her to see, absorb and manipulate the emotions of people around her, to discover what really happened to her brother.
It has now been revealed during Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm, will also be coming to the Switch later in 2021. The series' first Nintendo foray was announced with a charming 2D trailer.
Also, unlike previous instalments in the Life is Strange series, when True Colors launches later this year, it will be released in all one go. Previous games released in episodic stages. However, the developers have shared that, while True Colors can be played through in one sitting should the players wish, there will be natural stopping points during the gameplay. This will enable players to take natural breaks, without feeling like the narrative will lose momentum.
While Alex and Haven Springs are both new additions to the Life is Strange franchise, there is a familiar face in True Colors. Steph Gingrich, first met in Before the Storm has moved away from Arcadia Bay, and now lives in Haven Springs. Here she has her own radio show and, should players choose, Steph can become a romantic interest for Alex as the game progresses. And, thanks to this latest announcement, player from all main consoles will have the chance to experience it.
