LEGO Masters blends the worlds of competition and creativity together in one epic showdown, featuring one of the most popular toys of all time. Spurring fans' imaginations, LEGO Masters is in good company, and there are a plethora of great competition reality shows to enjoy.
From creative showdowns like Domino Masters to more physical games like Frogger, there is always more fun to be had. While there may be a ton of great competition reality shows to choose from, only a few capture the creative spirit of LEGO Masters.
Frogger (2021-Present)
Stream On Peacock
LEGO Masters and the show, Frogger, don't have a lot in common, but they both bring one of the most popular toys of the past to life for viewers to enjoy. The series features weekly competitors who attempt to conquer an obstacle course that mimics the familiar levels of the definitive '80s video game, Frogger.
Frogger is such a fun series because it is not only hilarious, but it is bright, colorful, and ultimately imaginative with its premise. Nostalgia has proven to be a powerful force in recent years, and Frogger's connection to classic video gaming has viewers reliving the old days, much in the same way that LEGO Masters does.
Shop Class (2020)
Stream On Disney Plus
Though it only lasted one season, Shop Class nevertheless captured the fun and energetic spirit of competition reality shows while also appealing to families. The show features teams of young people who compete each week in a series of challenges that task them with deg and building certain creations.
The youth element gives Shop Class life, and Disney's high production budget helps lend the show the same slick look of adult-aged reality competitions. While LEGOs inspire people to think creatively, Shop Class gives its viewers loads of ideas to try at home and generally encourages its younger viewers to think outside of the box.
Metal Shop Masters (2021-Present)
Stream On Netflix
The entire purpose of LEGOs is to show that anyone can be creative if they want to be, but Metal Shop Masters pits very technically skilled artists against each other. The show features a group of talented welders who compete in various challenges to earn the crown of Metal Shop Master.
Welding is such a unique skill that viewers can learn a lot by simply watching the show and being exposed to a less-discussed art form. Though it is somewhat less accessible than shows like LEGO Masters, Metal Shop Masters is nonetheless a thrilling competition that shows amazing and unsung talents.
Baking Impossible (2021-Present)
Stream On Netflix
Netflix is known for producing its own competition reality shows, but Baking Impossible is one of the most unique takes on the genre. The show features teams of one baker and one engineer, as they compete to create culinary works of art that can withstand rigorous stress tests.
Baking Impossible has everything that competition reality fans could want, and it represents an interesting blending of TV tropes. Seeing the two worlds collide makes for great TV, and the audience is often on the edge of their seat when it comes time to put the seemingly fragile creations to the test.
The Cube (2021-Present)
Stream On TBS
Hosted by NBA superstar Dwayne Wade, The Cube turns the seemingly mundane into some of the most exciting reality TV in history. Contestants compete inside of a large plexiglass cube, where they must complete seemingly simple tasks in order to win the game.
Much like the minute details shown on LEGO Masters, the smaller scale of The Cube results in large-scale drama. The show does an excellent job of explaining why the contestants are competing for the cash prize, and it make their foibles all the more suspenseful. Considering the time limits, the simple tasks take on a devilish level of difficulty when the money is on the line.
Blown Away (2019-Present)
Stream On Netflix
The high demand for streaming content has pushed the limits of what is possible in competition reality shows, and it has shined a spotlight on many unsung art forms. Blown Away pits some of the world's greatest glass blowers against each other to see who truly is the best.
Generally considered one of Netflix's best reality shows, Blown Away's uniqueness is what helps it shine. Glass blowing is so unlike any other skill that viewers can find enjoyment simply by learning about the ancient craft. In the end, the show features a wide variety of beautiful creations, and the level of skill it takes to create them is fascinating.
Craftopia (2020-Present)
Stream On HBO Max
Though the competition is fierce, Craftopia still maintains a cheery and welcoming vibe that is quintessential family viewing. The series features a range of young competitors who use their creative skills to design a series of crafted works in order to take home the prize.
Much like LEGO Masters, Craftopia is a wealth of great ideas for viewers, and everything created on the show is within reach for younger people. The show is competitive, but it doesn't have the same mean-spirited energy that many of the more adult-oriented competition shows have.
Tough As Nails (2020-Present)
Stream On Paramount Plus
Some shows put emphasis on a single skill, while shows like Tough as Nails push the limits of every skill that their competitors possess. The show features a group of working-class people who compete in a series of work-related challenges in order to take home a cash prize.
The working-class element of the show makes it relatable to most viewers, and it shows the toughness and resilience of regular folks. The series does an excellent job of making the competitors likable, and the challenges are unique amongst the competition reality show genre. While the challenges may seem out of reach to most viewers, the entire purpose of the show is to illustrate that anyone can compete if they put their mind to it.
Making It (2018-Present)
Stream On Peacock And Hulu
Hosted by megastars Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, Making It is a perfect mixture of DIY and craft in one competition show. The series features makers from around the country who compete in a series of challenges that test their abilities to craft, build, and design various home-related projects.
The series has a cute and quirky vibe that puts more emphasis on craft than on embarrassing their competitors. This welcoming atmosphere helps to make the series one of the most soothing reality shows around, and it is also inspirational. While the competitors are amazingly skilled, nothing that they do on the show is impossible to be replicated by the viewer if they wanted to.
Domino Masters (2022-Present)
Stream On Hulu
While creativity is still a big part of the show, Domino Masters also manages to ratchet up the tension in the best ways. The show features some of the world's best domino builders as they create elaborate designs that will eventually be knocked down in extravagant ways.
Though it has nothing to do with the game of dominos, Domino Masters is still an accessible show that many viewers can relate to. While most people never took things to the extremes that the show does, almost everyone has played around with dominos in a similar way to the show. Like Lego Masters, the series is incredibly tense and it almost seems impossible for many of the elaborate designs to be pulled off. In the end, the spectacular result is what keeps viewers tuning in each week.
