A League Of Their Own’s classic story is brought to life by several now-iconic names, such as Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, and Rosie O’Donnell. For many of the cast , A League Of Their Own bolstered their careers significantly and brought them name recognition, but it might not be known what the movie’s cast did after the movie’s success. Here is what happened to A League Of Their Own’s cast after the 1992 movie, including some of the biggest projects they have done since.
Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks appears in A League Of Their Own as washed-up-baseball-player-turned-coach Jimmy Dougan, and his career has only skyrocketed since then. After starring in A League Of Their Own, Hanks became a major film star in the 1990s, starring in huge films like Sleepless In Seattle, Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan, and many, many more. Hanks’ star power has carried him to continued success throughout the subsequent three decades with hit movies throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
In the 2020s, Tom Hanks’ film career is just as prolific as ever. In recent years, he has been in hits like Elvis, where he portrayed Colonel Tom Parker. Davis has appeared in several shows over the years, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Exorcist, GLOW, and She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power. Davis’ most recent film appearance is in 2023’s Fairyland, showing her film career is still alive and well after A League Of Their Own.

Since A League Of Their Own, Madonna has acted intermittently throughout the years, mostly in the 1990s and 2000s. In 1996, Madonna starred in Evita as Eva Peron, a performance (both acting-wise and musically) which earned her critical acclaim.
Since the 2000s, however, Madonna’s main focus has been on her music. The singer has continued releasing new music throughout the last 30 years, with her most recent album being 2019’s Madame X. Between her prolific musical and acting careers, Madonna is undoubtedly a legend in the entertainment industry.

Since A League Of Their Own, Petty has continued acting both in films and on TV, with some of her most notable subsequent film roles being in Free Willy and Tank Girl. One of Petty’s most recognizable projects in recent years is Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, where she held a recurring role as Lolly Whitehill.
Rosie O'Donnell
Rosie O’Donnell is another one of the biggest stars to come out of A League Of Their Own, where she portrays Mae’s close friend Doris Murphy. After the success of A League Of Their Own, O’Donnell continued acting in films throughout the 1990s, although her film career appears to have waned, with her most recent appearance being in Pitch Perfect 2. O’Donnell has also appeared in many television roles, though some of her most significant work in the medium are her hosting roles on shows like The Rosie O’Donnell Show and The View. In 2022, Rosie O’Donnell had a cameo in the League Of Their Own reboot.
