PC gamers will finally be able to play PlayStation announced more PC games are on the way. The Last of Us Part 1, though a remake and not the original, will other Sony exclusives on PC, including God of War.

The original The Last of Us was widely considered to be ahead of the times with its graphics and gameplay on PS3. Protagonists Ellie and Joel captured fans' hearts with their relationship and growth throughout the game, which contrasted against the terrifying and overrun game world. The original version of The Last of Us was released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3, and was quickly followed by a PS4 remaster in 2014. The game received a sequel in 2020, and when The Last of Us Part 2 was released, The Last of Us Remastered spiked in sales again, showing how many fans, old and new, wanted to return to the world and explore it.

During Summer Game Fest 2022, it was officially announced that fans will be able to play The Last of Us remake on PC following its September 2 release on PS5. While an exact PC release date wasn't given, the trailer does confirm that PC players will finally be able to experience the first adventure of Joel and Ellie for themselves, with the PC version "also in development." It is unclear if Sony is going to bring The Last of Us Part 2 to PC anytime soon, but following confirmation of the remake, it's something players can hope for.

Last of Us PC Remake Confirmed

A PC version of The Last of Us 1 is likely going to amplify the game world. Even given the limitations on PS3 and PS4, the game reached remarkable potential, but now developers are able to push the graphics to the limit. One of the best parts of the Last of Us series is its beautiful world. There are nooks and crannies all around the environments that make it very immersive, and taking cover and finding items are just a few of the ways Naughty Dog inspires its players to explore their surroundings. Having to avoid a Clicker's path by sneaking around lets players see the state of the world that these characters live in. With more processing power for both the PS5 and the PC release, there is more opportunity to show off the game's universe, and the PC release also opens the potential for even more unique and creative Last of Us mods.

With the anticipation for a potential multiplayer for The Last of Us Part 2, it is exciting to see Naughty Dog give the original game new life with a PS5 and PC release of The Last of Us Part 1. Fans who have been patiently waiting for the franchise to come to PC are finally going to be able to experience the acclaimed title for themselves - with new improvements thanks to being a from-the-ground-up remake. It is an exciting prospect for many who are looking forward to this moment and for The Last of Us to reach new eyes and fans.
