The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs returns soon for season 2, and more drive-in totals. When The Last Drive-In premiered on Shudder in the summer of 2018, as a just over 24-hour marathon, most assumed it would be Briggs' last hurrah as a horror host. It was certainly promoted that way, and while many had fond memories of Briggs' tenure hosting TNT's MonsterVision block, the era of watching movies with a host was seen as long dead.

That's why it came as a shock to so many people when The Last Drive-In drew so much traffic during its initial live airing that Shudder's website and app crashed entirely, causing lots of frustration among attempted viewers who couldn't get things to work. Thankfully, Shudder put the entire marathon up on-demand just days later, and the crash became a cause of celebration for both Briggs and his fanbase. It turned out that horror hosting didn't have to be dead after all.

In The Last Drive-In season 1, and all other Joe Bob Briggs marathons on Shudder, the films to be shown haven't been revealed in advance.
