Kylo Ren. Set in the aftermath of The Last Jedi, this new series titled Star Wars: Legacy of Vader will explore Kylo embracing his new role as the First Order's Supreme Leader. However, it will also see Kylo Ren grappling with his family legacy, specifically his grandfather's.

Coming from Charles Soule and Luke Ross, Star Wars: Legacy of Vader will be a new ongoing series starring Kylo Ren during the approximate year that occurs between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. To that end, the newly revealed cover art for Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1 and some interior artwork can be viewed in the gallery below:

Having written Marvel's incredibly popular Darth Vader series in 2017 as well as The Rise of Kylo Ren miniseries in 2020, there's truly no better writer than Charles Soule to tackle this new ongoing Darth Vader/Kylo Ren series, having just concluded a 50+ issue run on Marvel's flagship Star Wars series set between The Empire Strike Back and Return of the Jedi. Likewise, this will no doubt be a fascinating time in Kylo Ren's life to further explore in the official Star Wars canon.

Kylo Ren's New Series To Be Set In The Aftermath of The Last Jedi

To recap where Kylo Ren has been before the start of this new series, The Last Jedi saw Kylo Ren nearly killing his mother before pulling back at the last second, being rejected by Rey, failing to destroy the Resistance, and murdering his dark side master Snoke before losing his duel with his former Jedi master Luke Skywalker. He also killed his father before all of this, as was seen at the end of The Force Awakens. As such, that's quite a lot of turmoil, especially for someone so torn between the light and the dark.

Now, this new ongoing series will see Kylo Ren as the First Order's new Supreme Leader. As seen in the interior art, it looks as though all of these recent trials and events will be taking quite a toll. Furthermore, Kylo will be communing once more with the melted mask of his grandfather, seeking guidance while also visiting Darth Vader's castle on the fiery lava world of Mustafar.

Kylo Ren's New Star Wars Comic Will Give Us The Mustafar Scenes We Deserved

Initial concept art and original scripts for Episode IX would have shown Kylo Ren on Mustafar for far longer than he was in The Rise of Skywalker. This included an encounter with the being known as the Eye of Webbish Bog, whom Vader met more than once in his own recently concluded series from Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco set in the aftermath of The Empire Strikes Back. Now, it looks as though Legacy of Vader will finally reveal those encounters and experiences on Mustafar, as Kylo Ren embraces his new role as Supreme Leader, looking to finish what his grandfather started.

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1 is set to release on February 5th from Marvel Comics.
