Comedy fans might say Knocked Up kicked off a trend of improv-based comedies in the late 2000s. The movie launched Seth Rogen into the spotlight as an everyman in comedy movies for the years following its release. Audiences the brand of humor it pushed, but the movie also showcases several memorable characters.
Some fans think This is 40, which returns some of its characters to screen. Knocked Up's main personalities present their likability in their attitudes and the actions they take in facing conflict.
Dr. Kuni
Ken Jeong plays Dr. Kuni. He is the doctor that steps in when Alison goes into labor and her planned doctor is revealed to be at a bar mitzvah in San Fransisco. It is hard to argue that he doesn't present the most unpleasant behavior out of any of the film's main players.
He is unfriendly. When he is first introduced in a montage, he asks questions in an aggressive manner. When he is monitoring the delivery, he is brash and curt. He talks down to his assistant. He lashes out at Alison even though she is in the middle of giving birth. He apologizes after Ben Stone confronts him, but he presents little likable behavior.
Jonah
Jonah Hill plays Jonah. isn't one of Jonah Hill's highest-rated movies, but he presents memorable jokes in his ing role. However, Jonah isn't very likable. He is shown flying off the handle, like when he yells at Jay after Alison is introduced to Ben's roommates.
He is vulgar and rude, staring Alison up and down when they meet. He berates Ben when he and the roommates learn about the pregnancy. He isn't gentle or ive and doesn't provide Ben with much advice. He is rarely shown helping others.
Debbie Scott
Leslie Mann's Debbie is Alison Scott's sister and Pete's wife. Debbie is sometimes pleasant and shown with a smile on her face. However, she presents an overbearing attitude. She judges Alison when she begins talking to Ben.
Debbie is rude. When her husband Pete suggests that they sleep together, she says that the idea "sounds awful." She is dismissive of Ben when Alison starts dating him, making negative comments about his body. She says he looks ten years older than he is.
Ben Stone
Seth Rogen plays Ben. Some fans say Knocked Up gives Seth Rogen his most iconic role. He is an underachieving shlub living off insurance he gets from an accident taking place before the events of the movie. Ben grows throughout the story into a more responsible man.
He is funny and pleasant. However, he also consistently presents unaffable behavior. When Alison tells him about her pregnancy, he is aggressive. He doesn't prepare well for the coming child until the final moments of the movie. He is rude when Alison tells him about her job. However, he tries his best to change for the better throughout his arc.
Jason
Jason Segel plays Jason. He is an extrovert who seems to have the most social skills among Ben's friend group. He oversteps often, showing some unlikable behavior. He comments on Alison's body when they meet for the second time at Ben's apartment.
However, he also shows kind and polite behavior. He looks Alison in the eye when they speak and welcomes them into their home. Despite this, he often insults his friends in their continual ribbing, and sometimes it comes across as mean-spirited.
Pete
Paul Rudd plays Pete. He is funny and gives some of its most relatable quotes. He presents moments when he isn't understanding. When Debbie voices her concerns about their children, he is dismissive. He shows selfishness, not considering Debbie's feelings when he sneaks off to do activities by himself without telling her.
However, Ben is a good and loving father. He is enthusiastic at his daughter's birthday party. He apologizes after hurting his wife. Although he is skeptical at first, he s Ben and Alison. He is self-aware about his behavior and regrets it when he talks to Ben in Las Vegas.
Alison Scott
Katherine Heigl's Alison is one of the protagonists. She is Debbie's sister and the mother of Ben's expectant child. She is open-minded and tries to make things work with Ben despite her instinct to turn away from him. She defends him when her sister criticizes him.
However, Alison sometimes shows unlikable behavior. She yells at Ben when they get into an argument in the car. When she meets Ben, she judges his lifestyle. However, she is reasonable and apologizes. She also proves to be forgiving after Ben shows hostility.
Jay
Jay Baruchel's Jay is one of Ben's roommates and friends. He appears when Ben tells them about the pregnancy, during the delivery, and other moments when Ben is at home. Unlike most of his other pals, Jay doesn't continually rag on his friends.
Jay is friendly and positive. He is the only person in his friend group who provides a constructive perspective of Ben's situation. He is often presented with a smile on his face. He reveals himself to be cowardly during the delivery of Ben and Alison's child, but he rarely showcases other negative qualities.
