Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was intended to be released in late 2024 after a six-year wait since the original Kingdom Come Deliverance. Fans of the franchise were left watching Henry of Skalitz ride off into the distance with his companion Capon, his story of revenge left incomplete. This cliffhanger may have been controversial at the time, but it set up the almost certain follow-up game to wrap up Henry’s journey. The end of 2024 was supposed to begin the next act.
On August 16, Warhorse Studios announced that their anticipated sequel would be delayed until February 15, 2025. This news may have come as quite a blow to gamers who were desperate to continue Henry’s story and finally see if he achieves revenge for his mother and father. However, when considering some of the issues the first game had upon release, focusing on creating the best experience for gamers is a far safer move. Rushing a game has a proven record of numerous unpolished problems.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: What A Bigger Game Means For Character Progression, Recreating Kuttenberg, & More
Screen Rant recently spoke with Warhorse Studios' PR Manager, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, while attending a press event in Kuttenberg.
Kingdom Come Deliverance Was Riddled With Game Breaking Bugs
Avoiding Pitfalls Of The Past
Many players who picked up Kingdom Come to Deliverance back in 2018 will the jolty performance, but many more may recall some of the quest-ruining or game-breaking bugs. From archers in the Archery Contest just refusing to begin shooting to characters in quests not performing their role, such as Captain Bernard causing the player to be fined and arrested during the mandatory training quest, to even the general freezing of the game during rendering of the map. The game was littered with these kinds of issues.
What players love just as much as a great game is a great working game. Kingdom Come Deliverance has such unique gameplay and an engaging storyline; it was a shame that it suffered from so many bugs. If Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 can carry forward the same strengths as its predecessor and take the time to remedy any obvious problems that the studio missed the first time around, it will be worth the few months' delay. If the studio needs to delay any more after February 2025, it will still be worth the wait for a full, finished delivery.
Warhorse Studio Knows the Importance of a Polished Video Game
AAA games suffering from major feature and gameplay issues are nothing new. Cyberpunk 2077 was known for its game-breaking bugs on day one of its release; No Man’s Sky was also known for its messy release. Both these games and others, including Kingdom Come Deliverance, have made major comebacks over the years with their bug fixes. The reality of a full-priced AAA game coming out and being either riddled with problems or even impossible to play is all too common.
Back in 2018, Warhorse Studio Executive Producer Martin Klíma said, ‘I freely it though that I wish we had more time to polish the game before the release, that’s what AAA game deserves’ on the Kingdom Come official website, which was definitely a notable aspect of the first game during its initial release. With Kingdom Come Deliverance being pushed back to 2025, it shows a change in perspective, focusing more on perfecting a finished work rather than fixing post-launch bugs.
