According to the president and CEO of CD Projekt, Keanu Reeves has already played Reeves plays Johnny Silverhand, a character who will apparently play a major role in the game. Reeves was brought out at E3 2019 to announce Cyberpunk 2077's then April 2020 release date.
Since then, the game has been delayed repeatedly for different reasons, although it sounds like a release is on the horizon. Earlier this week, CD Projekt released a trailer showing PlayStation 4 Pro Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay, proving that the game is actually real and close to being ready.
Earlier today, VG247 reported that the president and CEO of CD Projekt, Adam Kiciński, revealed that Keanu Reeves has been playing through a copy of Cyberpunk 2077. In a recent shareholder call, an investor asked Kiciński what Reeves thought of the game, to which he answered, "He played the game, but as far as I know haven’t finished yet. So – but definitely, he played the game and he loves it." Reeves has been working with CD Projekt on Cyberpunk 2077 for years now, so it is not surprising that he got a copy of the game.
What IS promising is that this sounds like more proof that the game is finally on track for a real release. Prior to the trailer, for other technical features.
The news of Reeves being able to play Cyberpunk 2077, combined with the newest trailer and leaked gameplay footage, all point to Cyberpunk 2077 being all but officially ready to release. The repeated delays have caused the frustration of many excited fans over the last few years but, with all this news and footage of gameplay, it really does seem like Cyberpunk 2077 is reaching a state that satisfies CD Projekt Red, assuming it is not there already.
Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 10, 2020. It will also be optimized on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
