From Jack Black playing a teenage girl to Dwayne Johnson as nerdy Spencer, each of these characters is beloved by fans because of their distinct personalities that are fun, entertaining, and create great dynamics with others.
What makes characters in Jumanji particularly unique is that many switch bodies based on who they play in the game, and their personality persists despite portraying different roles. Bethany plays her part in the fight at Jurgen's banquet hall by keeping others away with a burning torch. This quote just shows that despite being in such a dangerous environment, Bethany keeps her humor and personality. Her reaction is extremely relatable, as she acts exactly how a teenage girl would act with a torch in hand and enemies all around.

When Spencer becomes the confident Dr. Bravestone character in the game, it's a pretty drastic change. Throughout Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Spencer uses Dr. Bravesteone's strength and power to become the best version of himself and carry out many dangerous and difficult feats fearlessly.
But, with this quote, viewers are reminded that Spencer is just a quiet teenage boy, who has allergies and plays the clarinet, and isn't actually Dr. Bravestone. When the typically quiet and shy Martha plays beautiful and fierce Ruby Roundhouse in the Jumanji video game, she's a little out of her element. In this scene, she reminds herself that she is a badass and then proceeds to dance fight her way out of her opponents.
This quote is a great example of Martha's character growth throughout Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. It marks the start of her newfound confidence in herself, though she's still a bit nervous and unsure, needing to stop and reassure herself that she can be anything she wants to be.

When the other teens meet Alex for the first time in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, he's a bit of a mystery. But then, Alex starts spouting some old '90s slang, and Spencer, Fridge, and Bethany realize that he's the missing Alex Vreek from their town.
This quote just goes to show that despite Alex being in the game for twenty years, he's still a teenage boy deep down inside. This is also when the movie takes a turn, showing how dangerous the game is and how important it is for them to get home.

Edward "Eddie" Gilpin
In the beginning of Dwayne Johnson embodying a different role as Eddie rather than Spencer, Eddie has the exact reaction that an older person would have if they realized that they were stuck in a video game, making his confusion both funny and understandable.
This quote also showcases Eddie's personality. He's grumpy and stubborn, and his use of Dr. Bravestone strongly contrasts Spencer's version. His difficulty to catch up to the complex details and story of the game just goes to show how out of his element he is.

Milo Walker
Milo is a beloved character who is kind and understanding, albeit talks a little slower. Despite Eddie's hostility towards him, he never stops being Eddie's friend and looking out for him.
