After years of anticipation, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is finally getting an anime adaptation. Steel Ball Run has always been one of the most popular parts, to the point that people have wanted to see it animated since the anime was first announced, and with how great the anime has been for the past decade, Steel Ball Run will surely more than live up to its hype.
The Steel Ball Run anime will be great to watch, and there’s good reason to believe that beyond the general pedigree of the manga. With Steel Ball Run only having just been announced, there isn’t much beyond a short teaser trailer and some key art, but even with that, the staff behind JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run has already made it clear that they understand one of the most fundamental aspects of the story. It’s a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but even so, it promises nothing but great things for the anime in the future.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run's Anime Subtly Re One Of The Key Details Of The Manga
How The Steel Ball Run Anime Pays Respect To The Manga
One of the most unique aspects of Steel Ball Run stems from how it handles its main characters. While Johnny is the primary protagonist by virtue of being a JoJo, Gyro is framed as the main protagonist for much of the early story, with him taking charge in almost every race and Stand battle. Even after Johnny gains more prominence, Gyro is still heavily involved thanks to his mentor role and general importance, so overall, Steel Ball Run’s Gyro Zeppeli is a unique character because he’s just as important as Johnny Joestar, if not more important, especially early on.
At the time of writing, the most that’s been revealed of the Steel Ball Run anime is a key visual, and it quite notably draws more attention to Gyro than Johnny, all of which suggests that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is already acknowledging that Gyro is framed as the protagonist more than Johnny in the early arcs through the anime’s first key visual. The fact that David Production would call attention to that is great to see, and it does a lot to suggest that Steel Ball Run will have plenty of love put into its production.
Why Steel Ball Run's Clever Key Visual Is A Good Sign For The Anime
Steel Ball Run Could Be The Best JoJo Anime Yet
Even though Steel Ball Run only has a key visual to its name at the moment, it’s nonetheless a great sign for the anime. As previously discussed, the way the key visual calls attention to Gyro’s role in the story is an amazing attention to detail most studios wouldn’t bother with, especially so early into production, so David Production’s attention to detail in Steel Ball Run’s first key visual suggests that the anime will have just as much thought put into its production, if not more.
In addition to having some of the best artwork in the entire manga, the writing is some of the most thorough and mature of any installment before or after, so it can be said that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run deserves to have as well-crafted a production as possible because is a great a story on all fronts. The anime’s premiere is still a long way away, but if the key visual is anything to go by, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run already has the makings of the best installment in the series, by far.
