Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fans have long been anticipating the animation of the seventh part of the series, Steel Ball Run. While fans eagerly await an official announcement that the anime is in production, the clues are piling up that the announcement may be coming soon.

It was previously announced on December 13, 2024, that a major Jojo event, known as JOJO Day, would be taking place on April 12, 2025, in Tokyo, although precisely what that event entails has been something of a mystery. The last time such an event was held was 2021, and at that time, the anime adaptation of Stone Ocean was announced, delighting fans across the globe. As such, fans have had big hopes for the event this year, banking on history repeating itself.

New Information on JOJO Day Has Been Revealed

JOJO Day Set to Be a Paid Event, Will Feature Many Anime Execs and Voice Actors

@Oricon_Anime_ on X (Formerly Twitter) has reported that the JOJO Day event will be a paid, ticketed event, and that a lottery for tickets has begun in Japan. The Japanese voice actors for Jonathan Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, and Leone Abacchio will be on stage for the event, offering fans a chance to connect with the voices behind their favorite characters. Other figures associated with the anime are also rumored to be in attendance, seemingly confirming that a big announcement related to the anime is coming up, and what bigger announcement could there be than the release date for Steel Ball Run?

With all the buzz about JOJO Day and the anticipation regarding part 7's adaptation, it's hard to imagine that the event could avoid addressing the topic entirely. It could simply be announced that the project is in production, with no firm release date, which would still be exciting news. A release date would be far better, especially since Steel Ball Run's sheer length could mean it will take quite some time to animate in full.

What Can Fans Expect from a Steel Ball Run Anime?

Steel Ball Run Kicks Off a New Continuity for Jojo

johnny gyro and hotpants chapter 57 sbr steel ball run jojo's bizarre adventure

Steel Ball Run is an interesting installment of the series because it represents the beginning of a new continuity, returning to the 1800s setting of Phantom Blood, but this time setting it in the American West, where a cross-country horse race, the eponymous Steel Ball Run, is set to take place. The story follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic former rider with a bitter attitude who meets Gyro Zeppeli, master of an ancient art known as Spin which just might help Johnny to walk again. Together, they must race across the US and uncover the secret of the Steel Ball Run.

Steel Ball Run is hailed by many as the greatest Jojo installment to date, and it represents a transition from shonen to seinen for the series, meaning that it's aimed at an older demographic. If a Steel Ball Run anime announcement is indeed imminent, there's sure to be much celebration from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fans around the world.
