Carrie Underwood has been making her mark this season on longtime host (and Carrie proponent), Ryan Seacrest.
Carrie offers contestants a different kind of hope, that they too could one day be sitting in her seat, helping to guide young singers on a show that gave them a career beyond their wildest dreams.
She is an inspiration to those who grace the American Idol audition stage, as she's living proof that the show indeed delivers on its promise of fame and stardom. As one of the judges who's been there, quite literally, Carrie can offer hopefuls the guidance of a seasoned pro who once started out exactly where they are.
Carrie Sang "How Great Thou Art"
Carrie Delivered A Show-Stopping Performance
Religion has always played a role in Carrie's career. Her 2005 hit, "Jesus Take The Wheel," is probably her most famous faith-influenced piece, but on the Easter Sunday episode of American Idol, Carrie took to the stage and delivered a stunning version of "How Great Thou Art." It's a song Carrie has performed before, but her American Idol number reminded fans of just how talented Carrie is.

Carrie Lives Out Her Christianity On The Show
Carrie Is A Devout Christian
Being open about your faith or even your political beliefs can be frowned upon in any industry. It can send the wrong message, or cause fans to make assumptions about you based on your beliefs. Carrie has never shied away from being a Christian, and she's never hidden the fact that God plays a large role in her life—and fans love her even more for it.
After a performance of "Gratitude" by contestants Riley O'Neil and Breanna Nix (who went viral earlier in the competition after a sweet encounter with Carrie, where Carrie held her son during Breanna's audition), Carrie was moved to tears. After the song, Carrie spoke about how hard it is to be open about your faith in Hollywood, saying, "I know how difficult it is to come into the entertainment industry and bring your faith with you. It is a brave thing to do because there are a lot of outside forces that are going to tell you not to do that."
Carrie, a mom of two, is a soothing presence at the judges' table, bringing her comionate, maternal energy to the set. Her nurturing nature builds the contestants up, giving them the confidence to advance as she advises them. She's the embodiment of a person of faith, and her kindness, which should not be mistaken for weakness, is welcoming and puts contestants at ease.
Carrie Is Elevating The Series
Carrie Is A Once-In-A-Lifetime Talent
Carrie's road to superstardom truly is unique. Especially back in 2004, when Carrie won American Idol and reality talent competition shows were less plentiful than they are today, Carrie's story really captured fans' hearts. Her humble beginnings prepared her to trust her faith and to never shy away from praising God. It's not hard to believe that Carrie's career has sustained for this long, and that she's maintained her status as one of country's biggest stars in an extremely competitive industry. Her talent speaks for itself, and her sweet nature sets her apart from the rest.
