Since the premiere of Shotgun Wedding in 2023, Lopez's streaming films have earned poor Tomatometer scores on Rotten Tomatoes (without counting This Is Me... Now: A Love Story, the complimentary movie to her 2024 album), with the Netflix movie Atlas being the worst by a wide margin. But Unstoppable can break that streak.

It is based on Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy's 2012 book Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion, which chronicles Robles' inspiring true story as a wrestler who was born with only one leg.
