The new new characters like Jaro Tapal, it fills in story details for characters such as Saw Gerrera and Tarfful.
The Clone Wars animated series when his planet was invaded by Count Dooku and his droid armies, which begins Gerrera’s legend as a rebel. He is seen in Rogue One giving Jyn Erso crucial information regarding the Death Star’s plans, which ultimately ends up in Gerrera’s demise.
Jedi: Fallen Order fills in some gaps in Gerrera’s timeline. First, the game depicts Gerrera as a younger man than Forrest Whitaker’s Rogue One character, who has gray hair with breathing and mobility impairments. Second, Jedi: Fallen Order shows Gerrera actively engaging in the rebellion, as “Someone who makes the Empire angry,” as he introduces himself to the player. He leads the player in a small early battle, helping to introduce Cal Kestis to a Wookie who takes the player to another old friend of Star Wars fans, Tarfful.
Tarfful is another character from Star Wars past. The Wookie chieftain’s first appearance in the saga was in Star Wars Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith where he participated in the battle of Kashyyyk. He commanded the Wookie forces alongside Master Yoda during one of the most crucial battles in the galaxy. Master Yoda remained on the planet after the battle, and when Order 66 was given and all the Jedi were to be killed, it was Tarfful who ed Yoda and helped him get off the planet alive and avoid Clone Troopers.
In Jedi: Fallen Order, Tarfful again helps the Jedi. He was rumored to know the location of a Jedi holocron which contained information on Force-sensitive children who had become outlaws after the Jedi Purge. The player is helped by Tarfful on return to Kashyyyk, where he also gives the player advice on where to go, as well as a re-breather.
Between the two of them, Saw Gerrera and Tarfful have seen many of the events that have shaped the Star Wars galaxy as we know it. The in-depth look that Jedi: Fallen Order gives to filling in gaps that the movie and TV shows had left is incredibly well done and does not feel like a forced inclusion. The game provides crucial information about known characters, and even features a secret cameo from Emperor Palpatine. With so many moving pieces, players will have to keep a sharp eye out for what their actions in Jedi: Fallen Order mean for the rest of the Star Wars galaxy moving forward.
