Belgium's martial arts king Jean-Claude Van Damme has fought many excellent martial artists on-screen, and one of his most memorable opponents has been Peter Malota, with the two having several fight scenes together. Van Damme first broke out in 1988 with the martial arts tournament movie Bloodsport, which launched his career in action films. Van Damme would go on to amaze audiences around the world with his kicking skills and famous flexibility throughout his career.

The Albanian-born Peter Malota is a highly-skilled martial artist himself, and has worked extensive in stunts and stunt coordination, as well as teaching martial arts. Malota would eventually move into directing with the 2017 action movie Kill 'Em All, starring Van Damme and Daniel Bernhardt, lead of the Bloodsport sequels. Malota's kicking skills from his years in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido have been put to use whenever he's had the chance to be in front of the camera, and this frequently has involved fight scenes with Van Damme.

The first Van Damme vs. Malota fight came in 1991's Double Impact, in which audiences got two Van Dammes for the price of one with twin brothers Chad and Alex Wagner, the first of several movies where Van Damme had a twin. When the two brothers arrive to rescue Alex's kidnapped girlfriend Danielle (Alonna Shaw) and Chad's adoptive uncle Frank (Geoffrey Lewis), Alex runs into a formidable henchman, played by Malota. Donning a pair of spurred cowboy boots, Malota puts his kicking skills to good use against Alex, but Chad's twin brother refuses to let his enemy get the best of him.

The Quest

Van Damme made his directorial debut with 1996's The Quest, in which he portrays Christopher Dubois, who enters a secret international martial arts tournament in 1925. With a wide assortment of martial artists competing, Malota appears as the Spanish Fighter, who wins the tournament's first match against an opponent from Russia. Chris subsequently faces the Spanish Fighter in the tournament, and Malota really gets to display the power and grace of his kicking skills, though Chris ultimately emerges from the match victorious.

The Order
