Netflix's latest Hallmark-style romance has viewers wondering where Irish Wish is Lindsay Lohan’s second Netflix rom-com to date, following her much-watched but poorly reviewed Falling for Christmas. While Lohan's return to the small screen in a St. Patrick's Day-appropriate romantic comedy is as equally flawed as her last Netflix movie, the actor's charisma has turned the flick into a surprise chart-topping hit for the streamer. Although Lohan and the emerald scenery are engaging, Irish Wish's plot is formulaic.

At the beginning of Irish Wish, Lohan's Maddie Kelly, a book editor struggling to find her voice, is hopelessly in love with clueless, bestselling writer Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos). When Maddie's overbearing mother (Jane Seymour) encourages her to tell Paul the truth, the celebrated author makes it clear that he sees his relationship with Maddie as a professional one. Maddie's luck worsens when her friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan), a key member of Irish Wish's cast of characters, falls hard for Paul. However, once Maddie treks to Ireland for the couple's wedding, a fantastical wishing stone seemingly lands Maddie with Paul.

Although Irish Wish begins in the states, the film quickly relocates to the Emerald Isle thanks to Paul and Emma's whirlwind romance. Maddie and Emma's other BFF, Heather (Ayesha Curry), the soon-to-be-wed couple on their flight, but due to a lost baggage incident, Maddie ends up arriving at Paul's family estate on her own. When Maddie steps off a quaint bus at the gates of the Kennedy House, she's awestruck. Given that Irish Wish used Killruddery House as a stand-in for the fictional brood's country home, it's no wonder Maddie is charmed.

Killruddery House stands on the southern outskirts of Bray in County Wicklow, landing the abode about a dozen miles south of Dublin, Ireland. Originally built in the 17th century, Killruddery was remodeled and expanded upon in the early 1800s, which led to its more Elizabethan style. In Irish Wish's ending, the property's famed orangery serves as the orchard-like wedding setting. Beautifully adorned and meticulously landscaped, Killruddery House has also appeared in Far and Away, Angela's Ashes, The Tudors, and many other film and TV productions.

If anything, Irish Wish serves as a great tour of some of Ireland's most scenic places, including the famous Cliffs of Moher and Lough Tay. One of the most-visited tourist sites in Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher attract roughly 1.5 million visitors on an annual basis. Located in County Clare, the impressive sea cliffs rise over 700 feet above the Atlantic at their zenith. Although less well-known than the Cliffs of Moher, Lough Tay is equally beautiful. The small lake, which stands on a private property owned by the Guinness Estate, is in Ireland's Wicklow Mountains.

Irish Wish is the second movie in Lindsay Lohan's two-film Netflix deal.

While Lindsay Lohan's Netflix movie echoes a rom-com from 16 years ago, it definitely tries to stand out by blowing its production budget on remarkable filming locations. Aside from natural splendor and private estates, Irish Wish drops its characters at one of Dublin's most iconic lodgings: the Clarence Hotel. Located in the famous Temple Bar neighborhood, right on the River Liffey, the Clarence Hotel was built in the mid-1800s. In 1992, two of U2's , lead singer Bono and lead guitarist The Edge, purchased and refurbished the one-of-a-kind hotel.

With principal photography for Irish Wish taking place in Dublin, Wicklow, and several other beautiful locales, director Janeen Damien was floored by the flick's filming locations. "It's so green your eyes have to re-calibrate," Damien said in an interview, adding that she felt viewers might think the out-of-this-world emerald vistas were fake (via Soaps in Depth). For different reasons, Westport's town square also seems like something produced on a Hollywood soundstage. A designated heritage town, Irish Wish's Westport features a scenic river walk, tree-lined promenades, stone bridges, and plenty of Emerald Isle charm.
